I've seen Culver look like a lottery pick. Past 2 games he's been very limited.
Nice first half! The offenses are seeing the court a lot better after getting some first hand experience against the defense. Looking forward to a fun second half...
Barkley and Smith are dinosaurs... All they can think is offense - why aren't they rushing the pace? Different styles, different eras.
Well, neither of them were known for their D, and Kenny was "The Jet" - he's not gonna appreciate a slow-paced half court game.
Barkley was enjoying Auburn run and gun even tho they could've lost to N Mex St first round and Kenny likes that no defense street ball Carolina plays.
They also don't really understand the college game any more--only Kellogg in that group does, probably because that's what he covers. Smith freeze-frames an open shot for Clark, Kellogg points out that Clark isn't a shooter, Smith says so what, you can't have any non-shooters out there.
Which I suppose is true on a contending NBA team. But in college unless your Nike bagmen have assembled an all-star squad you've got players that can't do certain things and if you want to win you need to have them not try to do what they can't.
Took
Texas Tech 370 to win 1665
and
Auburn 300 to win 2100
last sunday night to win it all
Virginia is going to cost me 2100 one game and 1665 the next. Look out Duke youve got a replacement on my most hated list.
You sound sure of the outcome.
And three doen votes. Feel like a tech fan tonight.
After the slow start, this has been some pretty exceptional basketball. I think Kenny and Charles were over harsh criticizing the offenses seeing as they're both getting open looks from 3 (5 of 12 and 5 of 11).
This has been fun to watch. Far better than watching a couple payola, one-and-done filled "blue-bloods".
Kenny & Charles just bitter their teams aren’t here. Tbs/CBS merger great for the tourney (all games on tv), but having Kenny & Charles lead your broadcast? They watch 0 college basketball other than this tourney.
The defense in the post is really impressive on both sides. It’s difficult to even get close to the basket and when they do the collapse and shot contention is suffocating. There’s really no attempt at any post work. Just trying to penetrate or shoot.
First one to 55 wins!
Really hate to say it, but I have to. Theres two ways to go after suffering an all-timer like Virginia did last year. They chose to not let that loss define their legacy. Kudos to them, no matter the outcome tonight.
Should be a model for everyone.
Maybe, but it took a lot of luck (help) to win the last 2 games.
The thing about Virginia is that they have zero seniors
Deandre Hunter will be gone to the NBA.
Yeah prob so but other than him, they have everyone else most likely back. With their style of play you can pretty much figure theyll be in the picture again next year.
Salt is a RS Sr. Guy and Hunter could get NBA interest, but they could all be back next year.
Salt is just a big body - he hasn't done much in any game I've seen.
Hunter is a big piece for them, but Bennett has built a damn good program; they could be even better next year.
Tech will have to start nailing 3's to win. The rest of their offense looks stale again.
Culver heating up and I think he's getting space with Hunter shadowing Mooney.
Culver's ready to go off...
Trading 3's... This is a fun game to watch!
If someone told Beard that two bench players would have > 50% of their points at the 3/4 mark, do you think he'd need fresh pants?
Yet it's just a 2 possession game.
Hunter's been out playing Culver.
Culver is way overrated. I don't see it at all.
Mooney 1-4 with 2 pts. After carrying the team in Fri. Big dance is crazy.
I think Tech will have to go off from beyond the arc to win this. They just can't quite keep up. Virgina has controlled a majority of the game.
Arms length with a choke hold.
Watching the 3s drop makes me miss that in the Michigan offense.
Watching these teams play with a deep bench makes it more apparent - if it wasn’t already - that our depth cost us badly. It’s clear we ran out of steam and faded down the stretch.
I wonder if Belien had to do it over again if he would have emphasized more development, or if we just didn’t have the pieces to do so. Oh well.
.......bourbon
I thought that too, early on. But then I realized what he was doing. Build up the team record before any bad stuff happens so that you can secure a top seed. Smart. This was a rebuilding year. He knew it. Just played out better than he thought. This team is deeper than people think. This team will take the trophy next year beating MSU in the final four and UVA for the title.
TT gets away with LOTS of hand checking. My only beef with their run. And the banked 3s.
It's starting to slip away for Tech.
Jerome for MVP.
You can't leave a Guy open.
Ten minutes left, 10 points down. Looking rough for TT...
It’s over. Virginia is just too much for TT.
This is basketball! Knock down, drag out, grind it out, no freebees. Damn I wish the NBA was like this.
Can't agree more. I'd love to see Pistons play 82 like this. And deep playoff runs.
The inside-out, then swing pass is killing the Tech D. Three guards, 2 of which have great outside shots. UVa is so fundamentally sound.
Ohh, that hurt TT! One second on the clock and he hits a turn around.
And now Culver with the charge. TT is in a world of hurt as it slips away...
UVA's poise on offense tonight has been impressive.
It's proof we need another Stauskas.
You think your team is good, then you watch the 2 best teams go at it and are like...oh...
Culver looking like a lottery pick now.
Do you have to tie the ball up for 20 seconds? That just really cost TT
This is where Jerome has a tendency to choke
Man, Francis is having himself a game - kid is tough.
