Nice first half!  The offenses are seeing the court a lot better after getting some first hand experience against the defense.  Looking forward to a fun second half...

Barkley and Smith are dinosaurs...  All they can think is offense - why aren't they rushing the pace? Different styles, different eras.

They also don't really understand the college game any more--only Kellogg in that group does, probably because that's what he covers. Smith freeze-frames an open shot for Clark, Kellogg points out that Clark isn't a shooter, Smith says so what, you can't have any non-shooters out there.

Which I suppose is true on a contending NBA team. But in college unless your Nike bagmen have assembled an all-star squad you've got players that can't do certain things and if you want to win you need to have them not try to do what they can't.

Took

Texas Tech 370 to win 1665

and

Auburn 300 to win 2100

last sunday night to win it all

Virginia is going to cost me 2100 one game and 1665 the next. Look out Duke youve got a replacement on my most hated list.

After the slow start, this has been some pretty exceptional basketball.  I think Kenny and Charles were over harsh criticizing the offenses seeing as they're both getting open looks from 3 (5 of 12 and 5 of 11).

This has been fun to watch.  Far better than watching a couple payola, one-and-done filled "blue-bloods".

The defense in the post is really impressive on both sides. It’s difficult to even get close to the basket and when they do the collapse and shot contention is suffocating. There’s really no attempt at any post work. Just trying to penetrate or shoot.

Really hate to say it, but I have to.  Theres two ways to go after suffering an all-timer like Virginia did last year.  They chose to not let that loss define their legacy.  Kudos to them, no matter the outcome tonight.

Should be a model for everyone.

If someone told Beard that two bench players would have > 50% of their points at the 3/4 mark, do you think he'd need fresh pants?

Yet it's just a 2 possession game.

I think Tech will have to go off from beyond the arc to win this. They just can't quite keep up. Virgina has controlled a majority of the game.

Watching these teams play with a deep bench makes it more apparent - if it wasn’t already - that our depth cost us badly.  It’s clear we ran out of steam and faded down the stretch.

I wonder if Belien had to do it over again if he would have emphasized more development, or if we just didn’t have the pieces to do so.  Oh well.

I thought that too, early on.  But then I realized what he was doing. Build up the team record before any bad stuff happens so that you can secure a top seed.   Smart.  This was a rebuilding year.  He knew it. Just played out better than he thought.  This team is deeper than people think. This team will take the trophy next year beating MSU in the final four and UVA for the title.

Ohh, that hurt TT!  One second on the clock and he hits a turn around.

And now Culver with the charge.  TT is in a world of hurt as it slips away...
