A pump fake there likely sees Gallon wide open. He was just starting to make his break.
November 30th, 2013 at 4:04 PM ^
The problem there is that Gardner got trucked right after he threw it. He might have stepped up though. I would have liked to see them run an option look with a receiver leaking in behind for a jump pass type thing.

Had to go for two there, but do not like staying with the Dileo play after OSU called the timeout.
November 30th, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
Perfect decision to go for 2. Good play call before the TO. Bad choice to stay with the same play/formation after OSU had a chance to prepare for it imo.

100% but not sure about the play call - should have at least released a backside TE in case nothing was open.
Biggest problem was probably keeping the same formation after the OSU TO. You know the coaches told them to sit on the short route. They did. We lost.

There was no way they were stopping Hyde in OT. Try for the win there and keep it out of his hands.

That was the right thing to do. Michigan had shown no ability to stop OSU. DG was hobbled. Gibbons was out. And how much more pixie dust did the offense have? I love that Hoke went for it.
November 30th, 2013 at 3:46 PM ^
Loved it. Didn't even mind the play call. Offensive line did their job and gave Devin plenty of time, just a bad decision by him to throw into that much coverage.
Sad it didn't go our way, but regained a lot of respect for Brady Hoke in that second half after the terrible decision to run out the clock in the first.

2-point conversions work 40-50% of the time. Our run defense had been so poor, we were probably less than 50-50 to win in OT.

All day long that was the right call.

Unfortunately, throwing to a 5'7" guy into double coverage, not so much.

And:
RT @Dan_Gonzalez16: Don't understand route combination on Mich 2 pt try. One thing to expect zone but must be able to run away vs man/match

Overtime is at best a 50/50 proposition. I like that he is rolling the dice without screwing around with overtime. Huge game by Devin. Let him try for a 3 yard throw with it all on the line.

Completely 100% in favor of it.
Gardner maybe could have bought a little more time but no complaints. the future is bright.

other choice. M never plays for nor is satisfied with a tie!

No such thing as a tie anymore old timer.

I watched Tiebreaker and Michigan fans thought a tie to OSU at home was a win. hahahahahaha.
November 30th, 2013 at 3:47 PM ^
Loved the call. We would not have stopped them in OT. Great game.

BUT:
Great game by this staff and these players. This outing did nothing to hurt our recruiting, and did worlds to give us all hope and good reason for optimism going forward.
The distance between us and Ohio is officially much less than anyone thought.

I'm not starting a war and I'm not a Borges apologist but he called all the other plays today. 42 points worth. Players played with fire and executed those plays.
I understand the season on a whole was bad and that is an issue for sure.

Props for the British SAS reference. Nevertheless, an apt quote. Hoke showed "onions" today. Absolutely agree with the call.

To go for it.. not the play call
November 30th, 2013 at 3:48 PM ^
No doubt....had to go for 2. Winning in OT, especially without Gibbons, wasn't gonna happen.
November 30th, 2013 at 3:49 PM ^
I would have done the same thing. And I think that just showed why we should support Brady Hoke as our head coach. Will do whatever it takes to win. Hope this doesn't mean another year with Borges.
