Sunday men’s tournament open thread
Fighting Sister Jean’s looking good early against Illinois!
Ramblers are a really well coached team... I don't really recall how good they were when Michigan played them, but very impressed with their first half so far.
They were good, but didn't have the advantage against Beilein that they do against the throw the ball out there coaches.
Porter Moser can coach the hell out of basketball. Loyola looks so organized and well-positioned, so smart out there.
I sure hope Indiana doesn't sucker him into going there, he shouldn't have to deal with that job but if I'm looking to hire a coach he would be my number one candidate.
If we were looking for a coach he would have been perfect but we're lucky Juwan fell into our laps after Beilein decided he wanted to coach in the NBA for some reason.
Moser was strongly suggested when Beilein left and was almost universally rejected by posters here and on UMHoops.
Impressed with the Ramblers quick feet and hands. They stay in front of people, know when to help or double. As others have said, very well coached.
I do think it's cute that the "Coe - Burn" family at some point in time made the switch from "Cock Burn".
Dosunmu looks exhausted.
The only thing missing from Krutwigs game is a cigarette hanging from his mouth.
The coordinated floor slap never ceases to lead to a bucket
IL smacking the floor like Staeee. So 2000’s.
Who knows how this game will end up but Loyola got mis-seeded, they shouldn't have had to play a one seed in the 2nd rd., they legit look like a capable final four team.
imo, biggest mistake in the seeding. a 6 at worst for them.
i'm for the big ten, but i just can't root for IL against loyola. go ramblers!!
Go Loyola. Illinois is an annoying, whiny program
Kofi traveled bad on the last one. Moved his first foot to clear space, then followed it with his trailing foot, THEN he went up with the shot
Dude has no chance in the NBA
It's impressive watching Loyola play great D against a team with a lot more physical/athletic talent than them
Wait. IL can bang bodies down low by Loyola can’t?
9 fouls in entire 1st half. 7 in 5 minutes of 2nd. Why does this seem to happen every game?
Because referees make adjustments at halftime.
I get that part. But why do adjustments need to be made? That 1st half flowed really well on both ends. Couple of chippy moments but not enough that it felt like it needed to be controlled.
shitty big ten refs
Anyone else feel that Andre Curbelo might be as irritating a person as he is a player? Extremely tenacious on the court, but his face just screams "I'm THAT annoying kid".
Loyola a really good team.
Ticky-tack calls for Loyola while nothing is being called on Illinois. Of course.
idk. I feel like this game has been called really well so far. Much better than most NCAAAT games I've watched, but I guess that is a low bar
IL in the bonus with 12 minutes to go? Admittedly I'm not watching that closely but that seems like a lot of fouls for one team in a short period of time when they only had like 4 in the 1H.
Michigan trailed Loyola 37-45 at the under 12 timeout in 2018. Will be interesting to see if the Ramblers have enough in the tank to close it out this time around.
damn. almost identical scores
PSA, Michigan Women's basketball on ESPN2 vs FGCU ar noon
I hope the ladies shit on FGCU on the deuce!
They've gotta take Curbelo out.
Is Brad Underwood asleep? I agree with Raftery. Loyola is beating Illinois by running the same action over and over and Illinois won’t adjust.
No foul on that drive at all right?
Cockburn can pass
I am shocked
Cockburn passed!
Loyola is playing with a lot more intensity than Illinois on both ends of the floor.
haha, dosumno complaining on that obvious foul
Lulz Ayo that's a foul on the street
The refs are definitely treating Loyola differently than Illinois.
Careful, a lot of people on here think the refs are completely unbiased and don’t favor teams or dictate flow of the game.
Travel my ass
And the press got em wow
Couldn't capitalize and Illini get within 8. This seems to be going down to the wire...if Illinois can get it that close...I suspect they will, they aren't going down without some huge swinging punches
a team not paying attention. i can see how loyola would be a tough team to prepare for in one day tho.
Illinois needs to go home for nothing other than the stupid unified floor slap shit
... especially when so far Loyola has been slapping the shit out of the whining illini.
Calling Loyola a Cinderella when the committee fucked them is ridiculous. Kenpom they're a 3.
Illinois really got screwed by the Loyola draw. They are not an 8 seed
How in 2021 does anyone not realize that coordinated floor slapping makes you look like a bunch of douchebags?
What it really shows me is that the whole team isn’t used to winning anything of substance prior to the bigten tournament. They are looking for things like co-champions, running their mouths and floor slaps
Illinois-Loyola is an entertaining game.
Loyola better than an 8 seed. Good enough to make another F4. Unfortunately, I think same can be said for Michigan tomorrow with LSU. Dangerous 8 seeds. Regardless if Illinois comes back or Michigan wins tomorrow, tough outs more like a S16 game not Rd 32.
The coordinated floor-slap by the Illini does it for me . . . I'm rooting for the Ramblers.
