Thought some of you would like to read up on our opponent next week. I was on football study hall and there was a write up that a Colorado blogger did on their statistical profile that I thought some of you would be interested in since we play them. One surprising thing was how good their secondary is, I think this will be a good barometer of where Speight and the rest of the passing offense is.

Man, this gut busting, ultra hilarious depth chart just kills me. Wow, how creative and what a burn! Mix in wearing the uniform combo from 1994 (which must be the programs' best moment), I hope we go for it on 4th and 15 up 45 in the last minute of the game.

-  A couple people, including the person who created the article titles, didn't understand that the fake depth chart is for CU, not Michigan.  You aren't lining up AGAINST Eric Cartman.  You're starting him!

-  After Halfback, they list One-Fourth Back.  The creator of this list doesn't do the maths so good.  Above Halfback is Quarterback, so the One-Fourth Back name is a little redundant.  It would make more sense if they went Halfback, Quarterback, One-Eighth back.

Advanced stats are pretty meaningless this early in the season.  Teams have played wildly different schedules and most of it is still pre-season projections.

No idea why you're getting downvoted for such a reasonable comment lol.

On another note, I guess it's fandom, but it's getting pretty annoying with people talking about how much they absolutely hate the opposing team and want to see Harbaugh crush them by overblowing small things and then posting a million tiny reasons why we should hate that team until it gets so old. It's exactly the kind of invented grievances that make Rutgers' fans hate us now.

And FWIW, I was at the Colorado Hail Mary game. I can't say I hate a team for beating us once 20 some years ago.

You were not there! That game never happened, don't be part of the conspiracy! You're better than that. I don't know why the media feels it has to prop up Stewart with some fake game heroics - he had a good NFL career without that myth. (Okay, 'career' might be a bit much, but he had a decent several years.)

Good warmup game. Much better defense than the last two games, yet not as hard as what's to come. As we all know too well, coaching matters, and the new defensive coordinator for Colorado is a good one (Harbaugh previously hired him to help coach the 49ers). And before the 49ers, he was previously a very good head coach in his own right, although he was ultimately fired for douchery. At any rate, while the athletes aren't elite, they should be well-coached enough to get Speight some good experience. Should be a good, informative game to watch.

Colorado is better than people thought coming into the year, and some of their success is somewhat opponent independent.  They can throw the ball quickly and will try to tempo you, and I expect them to catch UM a couple of times.  Their secondary is very good, and it will be on Speight to hit his receivers like he has the first two weeks.  But the Buffs are also pretty mediocre on the offensive line, and with a QB who isn't that accurate downfield that's a recipe for some turnovers.

And honestly, I like that CU made a dumb depth chart.  It's something fun, and gives a little flavor to the game.  I'd rather they do something like that than have a head coach talk about hitting during his 37-point-loss press conference.

last Fall a couple times, def. a program rising but they're starting at the bottom.   Cripes they lost to Hawaii last year.

They really took it to a vastly more talented USC team albeit at home in Boulder in front of a raucus crowd later in the year and USC was a mess most of last year.  Colorado has good speed at the skill spots but I hesitate to say they have more than Central Florida.

The Buffs were very competitive with Arizona, UCLA the aforementioned USC and Utah.  But it should be noted Stanford took them behind the woodshed 42-10.  Most notable with Colorado is that they played better at the end of the year so progress being made.

What makes them tough is their offensive style with the spread offense and tempo football.   But geez they've beaten what looks like a bad Colorado State team and Idaho State, a lot of programs would look good against that.  Michigan should win this game but if they have a day where they don't play well or committ a bunch of turnovers this will be a very close game.

This is great info, especially with regard to their offensive style. I think it's valuable for us to play three different types of spread offense in our nonconference schedule - a passing spread in Hawaii, a spread-to-run offense in UCF, and a warp-speed spread in Colorado. It'll be good practice for Indiana and Ohio State, which are the teams that seemed to give our defense the most trouble last year.
