Stunning turnaround for AA Huron Football

Submitted by Blue in Paradise on August 31st, 2019 at 10:43 AM

After winning like 1 game in 5 years, AA Huron put a beatdown on Ecorse High School last year 62-14.

I took my son to the game and Huron looked fast, strong and organized (they are still on the small side) against an Ecorse team that was pretty good last year.  We’ll see if this was a fluke or if was the beginning of a massive turnaround - let’s hope for the latter.  It would be great to have another good prep program in the AA area.

I should add that Chris Evans is on the Huron staff as he waits out this season and hopefully returns to Michigan next year.  I bet this guy turns into a great coach.

Also, Josh Williams is on the staff.  Josh might well be the most underrated Michigan player in recent history.  This guy was a beast on the 1997 National Championship team before dominating on the DL in 98-99 before getting drafted by the Colts.

When Paul Verska was our coach in the late 90s and into the 2000s, we were practically a powerhouse. After he left we became terrible, mostly because of terrible coaching hires. It's nice to see things back on track.

Took a semester of gym with him to fulfill my phys Ed requirement senior year, which was basically low-key spring training ( I was the only non football player in the class)

Super nice dude, and thank heavens Mike Rosenberg wasn't lurking on campus to bust him out for noncountable practice hours.

Go Rats!  They were good when I was there around the turn of the century and made the state final (although they lost).  Didn’t realize they’d been so bad as of late but I had heard rumblings Skyline had syphoned off a lot of talent from both AAH and AAP in general across all sports.
