Stadium experience tonight

At the game currently, just a couple tidbits from my perspective, feel free to share yours as well.

1. The media timeouts are out of control, I think there's literally been 16 so far

2. The amount of drunk people at night games vs day is literally...night and day. I really hope we dont ever sell alcohol. Literally had to tell the dude next to me to stop yelling in my ear.

3. The lights are cool for the beginning of the game before kick off but they're being way overdone.

Feel like I jinxed us with the timeouts.  I told my dad before the game that the luxury of having the game on BTN was less commercial breaks.  Could not have been more wrong.

Its not just a Fox thing.  This is the norm now.  It's all hours of commercials blocks with some football making an appearance every so often.

There's literally 11 seconds left in the game and you use a full media timeout? Go f*** yourself with a rusty nail.

I feel like I was assaulted by commercials. So many Psoriasis commercials I'm becoming paranoid that I might have it. Can someone send me a pic of theirs so I can compare it to my rashes?

Bought tickets section 2 row 13, best seats i've ever had. Bought the last blue rubber football from the mden truck.. As I tossed if before the game with my 10yo, it was zen/surreal.

Those of you who go frequently dont know how good you have it. The ambiance was great, belligerent intoxication was barely appreciable compared to OSU, Browns, or Steelers games.

People accommodated my little guy to make sure he could see... the miserable first half.. Everyone sat the majority of the second half.. which I still don't fully understand.  Go to a OSU/akron game and youll stand 90% of the game.

The lights dimming after touchdowns is a cool / different effect in the stadium.. Probably oneof the few ways its better than on my tv at home..

The pizza at halftime was God_awful... It had to have been made before the game and sat in a warmer for hours.

The walk back to my car felt safe... Reminded me of walks around campus at Oxford.

Oh yea, my son got a high 5 from JJ McCarthy as he walked into the tunnel.

If the young man from BG makes a full recovery, Ill quickly forget the bad and put this as a core memory with m little man.

I'm glad you and your son had a great time.  I hope you are able to come back again.  The God awful food aside (the food at the Big House has always been terrible and could be improved), it is a terrific experience.  So good that the marketing people do not need to fix what isn't broken.

Not post worthy on a board where we just had a college football Saturday in which Michigan played, it's now Sunday, and the "THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL" thread is still on the front page of the board.

lol, FOH with that arbiter of threads bullshit. Go stare at a wall if you want a message board with no messages. Go visit the Windows 95 message board board, I'm sure that only gets a post every year and a half when something truly relevant pops up. Sounds like your cup of tea.

I knew the lights would get annoying. They're not special when some kid hits the fucking button every 30 seconds.

They have to figure that out.

Pregame, touchdowns, end of 3rd quarter...after the win. That's it.

1. I agree on time outs.

2. Lol, complaining about drunk people at a football game? You are one of those “down in front” fellas, you will never convince me otherwise.

3. The lights were not overdone in any capacity. They were really cool in my eyes. That game needed anything possible to get the crowd going - you could hear a pin drop for most of that game. Just a dead, quiet night. The video of Charles Woodson, with the lights, was awesome. And they only played it once.

I was watching on delay, but the number of stops and starts and commercials still struck me as appalling. Can't imagine how tired that must get if you're on site. Between the shortened game and the difficulties establishing rhythm or continuity, I believe they've managed to screw the game up even more.

Totally agree on all three points.  The media time outs are terrible but the drunk yahoos yelling all game is intolerable.

We had two dickheads screaming “get off the field red hat” constantly for the duration of just about every stoppage, though they at least had the couth to shut up  during the injury stoppage.

Lights were cool but over used, music was pretty awful.  Definitely my worst experience in 35+ years going to Michigan Stadium.

It appeared to be "over-produced" on television. I wonder if that was in part what through JJ off, along with an opponent that would be hard to lock in for. Something just didn't feel right with all the manufactured hype.

I’m definitely old.   Going to games with my son who’s now an alum and I wasn’t that young when he was born.

I thought however the atmosphere last night was pretty good and festive especially given the opponent, enjoyed the lights and we had a great time despite the game being a bit underwhelming.   I might have a different view if this was against Penn St for example, but obviously the light show is basically only a night game thing anyway.  So for once a year especially a mid September game like last night was fun.

And yeah, the media TOs suck.    But I don’t think that’s exactly an original opinion at this point.

I'm an old guy, and I thought the overall experience and environment was great.

Considering it was a cupcake (well, anticipated) game, the stadium was packed and there was a lot of energy.

Student section filled up right about when the game started.

They've tweaked the issues from the first game...scoreboard, sound, and timing of when things occur.

The students loved the lights.  My daughter (2026 UM Grad) came over to sit with us for a few and she was raving about the lights.

The media timeouts are excessive, but Michigan can't do anything about that.  They did a pretty good job of filling the time with the frisbee dog, introducing championship teams/players, and other activities.

+1 to the students for cheering loudly every time the announcer said "Orji."

In my mind, the most important "customers" are the students...and they are clearly loving what's happening in the stadium.  They're showing up earlier and staying later than ever.

I don’t know why everyone is jumping on you. The media timeouts were out of control. The lights were overdone and there are more drunks at night games.

Curios through, when one of the drunks screamed about yet another 2:50 media timeout were you happy they yelled or just more frustrated? ;)
