Spring Practice Location Speculation

Submitted by BiaBiakabutuka21 on

Where do you think Harbaugh will hold spring practice this year?  Will it be at IMG again?  Will it be outside of Ann Arbor during spring break again?  Maybe at an NFL training camp?  I've seen a few hints from knowledgble posters in various places that seem to think Jimmy has something up his sleave again.

The board is somewhat slow at the moment before we get some signing day excitement, so speculate here on where you would want Michigan to hold spring practice.  My vote is for Southern California due to it being a rich recruiting area, lots of fun activities for the players, and I happen to live there so I'd try to watch some practices.

Losers of each drill get mauled by wolves.  (And improve toughness by surviving.). Winners get to play with moose.  Mean Joe has option of trying to get romantic, but may not...measure up?

1. Bobby Dodd Stadium - Atlanta, GA 2. AT&T Stadium - Arlington, TX 3. Qualcomm Stadium - San Diego, CA 4. Levi's Stadium - Santa Clara, CA (for chits and giggles) 5. High School venue in a recruiting hotbed.

Given umbig11's comments that the SEC et al will looks like hypocrites if they oppose it I have to think there will be a storng education and/or service aspect to the trip.

by UM or a service project offered to all student-athletes during a week in their offseason (but not during vacation since that is a defining clause in the proposal). They actually take a week away from classes orchestrated by the AD. Practice and complete a study project on some local topic. Baseball in the fall, football in the spring, etc. everyone enjoys the weather in spring or fall of their offseason. My wild card: Cuba.

is running spring practice at Nebula Abell 3-9

Abell 3-9 is a low surface brightness planetary nebula in the constellation of Hercules, and at 6,800 light years from earth, it ensures new, fertile, and untouched recruiting ground to raise Sparty's intergallactic profile.

I think most people would agree that last years spring ball held at IMG Academy was a success. I think Harbaugh should check out Bishop Gorman high school in Nevada, which is basically the IMG Academy of the west coast. Other than Bishop Gorman I say the team either goes back to IMG or finds some place in Texas or Southern California. Either way I can't wait to find out, and I'm sure no matter where we end up, we will forge a mini pipeline.

The satelite camps got bigger and better in year two. I'm guessing a similar trend will happen here.  I'd also be surprised if he didn't find a way to really stick it to the SEC with this one. Maybe by partnering with another college team for a week of practice and a scrimmage.

since it's against the rules and is something coaches have asked for the ability to do. If it were legal they could all easily copy it this year.

Harbaugh agitates them by coming up with novel ideas within the rules. That type of thing is hard to anticipate, but if it's going to really bother the SEC it probably needs to take place in their footprint. That's why our satellite camps and last year's spring practice were a big deal to them.

If, for example, the news was a trip to Vegas and practices at Bishop Gorman, the SEC would let out a collective sigh of relief in private. It's rumored to involve our athletes in different sports, so they would have to go at different times of the year.

We should think big. Rather than satellite camps, a satellite campus. University of Michigan-Miami has a nice ring to it.
