Spring Practice Location Speculation

Submitted by BiaBiakabutuka21 on

Where do you think Harbaugh will hold spring practice this year?  Will it be at IMG again?  Will it be outside of Ann Arbor during spring break again?  Maybe at an NFL training camp?  I've seen a few hints from knowledgble posters in various places that seem to think Jimmy has something up his sleave again.

The board is somewhat slow at the moment before we get some signing day excitement, so speculate here on where you would want Michigan to hold spring practice.  My vote is for Southern California due to it being a rich recruiting area, lots of fun activities for the players, and I happen to live there so I'd try to watch some practices.

You guys aren't thinking outside of the box. You're all limiting yourselves to what we did last year. New year, new plan. I'm actually really impressed with the Athletics Dept that this didn't leak.

they were all faux concerned about the players not having enough fun/family time last yesr.

So I predict it will be a "family camp" near a mega resort/water park.

Someone above mentioned AT&T in Texas.  That actually makes a lot of sense.  There are oodles of Texas recruits, yet we seldom seem to win those battles. This might help in that regard.  More importantly, spend a week there and it will feel like a home field by the time the game with Florida begins.

From what I can tell, everything Harbaugh does is strategic.  To benefit recruiting he doesn't have to do something as direct as going to IMG / AT&T / Bishop Gorman / SoCal.

Within NCAA rules, I think this trip is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunity for the kids.  This is consistent with the UM difference, which is being emphasized on the recruiting trail.  Basketball teams have been doing this for years, with trips to Europe, China, etc.

  • The UK - consistent with NFL emphasis to grow the brand of football
  • Haiti - pump $250K into the local economy, complete service projects
  • Kenya - visit game parks, learn about the cradle of civilization
  • South Africa - learn about history, visit Robben Island, visit game parks

If this is allowed by the NCAA, it would be awesome, and also kind of surprising that it hasn't been done before.

I like to be correct about something once a year or so, so I'm going to guess where it won't be held.  Bolivia and Russia.
