Personally I’d love to find a spot on the staff for Devin. He really knows his football and just seems like a fun guy to have around.

Bo almost ripped off Jon Falk’s head when he saw some slight issue with one guy’s uniform. Bo would NOT be pleased that all the names are falling off the jerseys. And on his birthday, no less.

I think the Big Ten Network sometimes lets students produce a broadcast. That can be the only explanation for the split screen with the announcers. Some kid came up with this idea.

A few things:

-Players are a lot bigger than they were 70-100 years ago and consequently, they wreak more havoc on the turf than they once did.  A 300-pound guy in cleats will rip up more grass than a 200-lb guy will.

-The season is longer now, and extends later in the year (past the end of the normal growing season for grass).

-Michigan Stadium happens to be located in a spot of low elevation where the water table is close, and the field is built into the ground.  30 years ago we lowered it further, which improved sightlines, but brought the field even closer to the water table.  As a consequence, grass doesn't take deep root in the stadium, or at least it didn't in the 1990s when we last tried.

Thanks for the info.  I loved the look of the stadium back in the late 80s when you walked up to the gates and said to yourself what's the big deal about this place.

I appreciate the fact that the field is deeply embedded and thought that was a big part of the issue.  you know better than I but maybe they could find something natural that would work.   4

i am okay with turf if it is safe for the players but it seems like nature and weather fucks with all synthetics such that it is a constant issue once installed (kinda like grass).

So far these are my standouts:

  • The pulling O-line men on the blue team have been paving roads.
  • Ben Hall looking like Mike Hart
  • Davis Warren looks the best of the backups, but Tuttle looks like a fine option
  • McBurrows looks like he'll get significant playing time.
  • Amorian Walker still needs some work but has the tools
  • Hibner looks to be another great TE.
  • Moore and Stewart and the DL look like the pass rush is slightly better.
  • Short yardage defense has looked good.

jake being jake suggesting that IU football has reasonable standards.  I always hope IU gets it together and I honestly think they don't give a shit in bloomington.  That said, it is a tough gig coaching CFB in Indiana.
