SPONSORED: Per DraftKings, Michigan is currently +450 to win the National Championship…Iowa is +2000. Where would you place your bet?

[Ed: Sports betting is now legal in Michigan, and we've partnered back up with DraftKings, a longtime MGoBlog supporter.]

Michigan currently has third best odds, with only Baylor (+250) and Gonzaga (+275) ahead of them. That team in Columbus sits behind Michigan at +1100, and the green guys in East Lansing are at +15000 (yikes…). What’s your favorite future bet from DraftKings?

Let’s say someone is a noob bettor and put $250 on Gonzaga, $250 on Baylor, $250 on Michigan, and $250 on Florida State at current DraftKings odds. Is that a bad bet?

If I'm doing the math right, spreading the bets on four different teams means that if Gonzaga or Baylor wins, your payout will mostly cover your bets but you'll still be down some overall.  If Michigan or Florida State wins it you'll come out ahead, but not by that much.  And of course if none of them win you're out a grand.

Just out of curiosity, I've clicked on the link.  I see options to place bets on the conference winners of several major conferences.  I don't see anything about placing bets on the national championship.  What am I missing?

Short answer: I wouldn’t.

Hard for me to bet on Michigan for anything, not because I don’t have confidence in them but because it’s hard for me to enjoy watching them play if money is on the line.

I thought this was way too early for being about football until I saw "Gonzaga."

To answer the OP question - nowhere. I would rather enjoy the tournament for the sport of it and clutch my virtue-signaling pearls than watch scores and spreads and clutch my ever-emptier wallet.

FWIW, I am not against gambling, except with my own money.

I joined draft kings a couple months ago out of sheer boredom. Figured how much trouble could I get in with $50...

I entered the free Super Bowl pool and my door prize was $1,000.

Michigan was +700 before the OSU game. That’s just below Gonzaga and Baylor. Both team’s which I believe Michigan can beat. Going to be a fun March this year!!

Got in as soon as they clawed back from that Wisconsin game when they were still at +900.  Threw down a free $50 I earned as a promo for depositing $10...so if they win it all, not only am the happiest boy, I get an espresso machine!

If your post requires this disclaimer "If you or someone you know has a gambling problem and wants help, call the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Gambling Disorder Help-line at: 800-270-7117. 21+. MI Only." are you sure this is where you want to make your money?

I bet my sparty coworker yesterday $100 and said his boys will make the tourney. He said what odds you want?  I said 3/1. He turned me down. Even he knows that if there’s any way they can get Izzo in the tournament, they’ll do it regardless of whether or not they truly earned it.
