...sooooo, what now?

It's always tough when your favorite team's season comes to an abrupt and unexpected end.

So what are you going to do now?

I'm genuinely curious. This isn't a "the world is over" thread, though I know for some it can feel that way. But whether we want to or not, whether we like it or not...a lot of people on this board invest a shit ton of time/energy (and sometimes resources) into their favorite teams. People who visit these boards usually more than others.

So is there a new show you're excited to watch? A book? DIY project? More time with family? Maybe a trip?

What's going to fill the void for you? Do you automatically switch into football season?

My attention this time of the year is put towards all the good cycling races in Europe. The spring classic season is in full swing with Tour de Flanders this weekend. An epic Belgian race. And I'm never totally invested in any one rider. So I get to just enjoy the race and whoever wins I'm happy for.

As a bona fide Final Four junkie, going back as far as 1989, when I was 12, I have never been less interested than the upcoming event.  Houston is led by a crook.  Gonzaga plays nobody 90% of their year.  Baylor, meh.  UCLA simply got lucky, and their coach is a prick too.

We had a death in the family, a tough one. The next two days will be spent in funeral homes, and then we will be heading out on a spontaneous trip of healing, mourning, and clarity.  Perspective is easy at the moment.  Its what to do with that perspective that becomes mission, the purpose, the pursuit.

I am returning to counseling again today, in the small space of hours between meetings I can’t avoid and funeral stuff.  Time for a little work on myself.  Or a lot of work on myself.   Never have I or will I get over a tough loss by my beloved Wolverines hoops team than last night’s stinker more quickly.

Well, it's effectively OT season at this point, so I am going to sit back at relax when it comes to this place.

As for the rest, I never stopped doing the other things like boring my family with my favorite BBC shows or making them desperate for tater tots by insisting on upscale cooking most nights. I fully intend to continue doing these things because the pained looks give me strength.

Speaking of Brit TV, the MGoGirlfriend and I watched the latest TV version of "All Creatures Great and Small" the last couple of months. She'd read the books in her teens, and I'd heard about it but never seen it. So we gave it a shot, thoroughly enjoyed it, and are waiting anxiously for Season 2.

And she's been getting Blue Apron delivered every week, so I'm eating upscale things that I've never heard of. It does make me long for the occasional tater tot or fish stick.

I'll be in the outer banks with the family and the rv next week, so as much as I'd enjoy a championship, fishing and spending time with the family isn't a terrible alternative.

Very happy with what the team accomplished this year and excited for the future of the program.

Well, I was offered tickets to the Final Four that I couldn't use.  Made camping reservations for this weekend prior to the season starting.  So now I don't feel bad about not going.  :)

I am going to build a shed. I was going to do this anyway but this loss frees up a few hours I would have spent reading every word on this blog. Spring is here, hopefully Covid will retreat with vaccine numbers increasing, let's all enjoy some life after an expectation exceeding BB season.

So funny thing - If you watch this entire clip on youtube (I believe it's titled something like Conan Attends Bartending School), he legit whips a very full cocktail across the table and says "Comin' up, Choppa". Robert Palmer's "You're Addicted to Love" is playing a la Cocktails and the drink smashes everywhere along the bar. It's has to be one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time and if you like Conan O'Brien, it's a must watch IMO.

Lawn season is almost here. My neighbors are gonna be soooooo jelly.

Already put a pre emergent down. Seeded over a garden bed. I'm gonna be growing my own sod in raised beds so I can dig out the ugly tall fescue clumps. It's gonna look like a PGA course when I'm finished with her ?

Basketball?  Football?  Why mope about those sports?

MICHIGAN IS A BASEBALL SCHOOL!!!!

Did Bakich get fired, yet?  FIRE BAKICH!

Otherwise, nothing will change for me.  I listen to books on the work commute.  My weekends are spent in the yard.  This will continue to be one of my go-to sites.  My interests will continue to cycle through various things.  I was hoping for a couple more nights of basketball, but I have little interest in the remaining four teams.  And the NBA carries no weight with me.  (Seriously, the only update I get about the travails of NBA teams are the weekly updates about some UM alum, or other...)

Life doesn't end because a favorite team's season ends.  It just changes a little...

  • Outdoor things. Yard work, house work, biking, hiking
  • F1 is ramping up, and it looks like it'll be a pretty entertaining season. Fantastic Saturday/Sunday morning viewing with a cup of coffee and the drone of the engines.
  • For some reason YouTube threw a bunch of chess videos at me and they must know me better than I know myself because I've been watching tournaments online.
  • I should probably start planning my wedding -__-
