Something's going on at Rutgers

Submitted by Bando Calrissian on
So over at Rutgers, head coach Kyle Flood contacted a professor about a kid's grades. The mess seems to be just hitting the fan, because all of the sudden, the AD is at practice today and there are police guarding the entrance to the facility. Totally bizarre. http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index.ssf/2015/09/rutgers_coach_kyle_… Tweet embed from practice today in first post.

I hope we hang 50 on those greasy NJ fucksticks this year.  Their fans are just the worst.  A form of life on par with the worst Ohio has to offer.  They must never be allowed to beat Michigan again.

Weird. I wonder if there were some threats as the result of this whole fiasco. I can't see why police would be needed if it was a (relatively) simply investigation about coach/professor contact.

From what I've read elsewhere, the issue is the intent in Flood contacting the professor.

The allegation is that he contacted the professor to pressure him/her into giving one of his players a certain grade (totally unacceptable behavior and would be grounds for firing, in my opinion).

But the alternative version is that Flood simply contacted the professor to see what the student could do to get his grades up (even that I'd say is not super appropriate, but not nearly as big of a deal).

The article says that Rutgers has a policy that prohibits it.  Probably to avoid coaches putting pressure on profs.

It also claims that Flood was told not to contact the prof and did so anyway.

Flood's retort at practice was to point out that he was told not to comment on the investigation, but that people from the university had talked to the press.

This is not going to end well.
