So Dcaf is the backup?

Submitted by NorcalBlue on

I guess I was under the impression that Peters was supposed to be #2 QB.  Was I the only one that was shocked with Dcaf came in?  Thought he looked good though.  Showed some nice poise given the circumstances.

Jim Harbaugh said he has "it". We saw a little bit of it.

Was Brandon Peters hurt? If he was hurt last Monday why didn't we get at least a little news of it? Pretty tight submarine.

I know that QB is one of the most complicated positions in all of sports, and we didn't have a lot to go on, but damn McCaffrey looked more effective than Shea. Such a spark to the offense.

I agree on your McCaffrey take.  But I thought Shea looked good too.  Especially when they rolled him out.  Very accurate on the roll out.  And how nice was it when he hit that long ball.  Seems like they got away from rolling him out later in the game - maybe because of the cramps?  I will say this - Shea is way shorter than I thought.  I knew he wasn't a giant, but man he looks small out there.

Whatever the case, it looks like QB is no longer a weakness, and we have actual depth at the position.  But OT, yikes.  We may need to pull off some redshirts because I don't see it happening with Runyan/JBB.

QB doesn't seem weak at all.  What a difference a year in school and some experience makes.  Peters is likely at least a capable back up.  McCaffery looks like he is on the right path and could end up being a stud by the time he is a soph or jr (or has an opportunity to start).  Milton is a lottery ticket with a ton of potential.  Patterson likely will only get better from here, but would like to see him protect the ball a little better (could have turned it over a few more times last night).

I thought McCaffrey was technically #3 under Peters, but as others have mentioned, it came out that Peters hurt his knee in practice.

For the short amount of time that he was in, I did like what I was seeing in McCaffrey despite things around him being less than ideal.

McCaffrey has to be the backup going forward, regardless of Peters' health. Hoping he actually sees some time on the field. The poise he showed was really impressive.

He acquitted himself well.

LMAO.  In all honesty though it was great to see him come in and handle the pressure in an atmosphere like that when it seemed nothing was going their way.  I like the idea of keeping him in the mix because you dont want him to transfer.  Patterson doesn't look like he will be an NFL player after this year which would mean McCaffery is looking at a chance to start his JR year.  I wonder what this means for Peters.... transfer?

I wasn’t surprised at all to see him come in. A week or so ago I disputed there being a gap on the depth chart from this site saying he was far behind peters. People didn’t want to believe me that Dylan was right there. He’s a good qb and almost wish they would’ve left him in the game

Mccaffrey will be a very good player for you. He needs to pack on another 20 pounds to play in this league but the kid has the pedigree and looked the part in limited action.

If your coach can resist trying to find yet another transfer and focus on that kid- you’ll be fine at q.b.
