Snowflake Thread: Defense Vs. Air Force

Defense is 3-0.

Not brutal.

Than the one long pass the defense played great again.

Held AFA to 1 pass completion.

I thought option teams were supposed to be fun to watch, that was miserable

Of the one busted coverage. Excellent day by the D.

Bc the defense is still very good but I find myself frustrated still. They have saved the offenses backside every game so far

1 bust.  Not terrible. 

Held AF to 168 rushing yards.  That is impressive, especially given the stalling offense.

Considering the opponent and how difficult they are to prepare for, I have literally no complaints about today on defense. It went better than I had feared or anticipated. One big play but they were mostly contained.

Imma gonna guess that this will have less comments than the offense snowflake thread

Couple of busts, but the defense is damn solid. Love the relentless push from the front three. Hurst, Gary, and Winovich are studs.

Gary getting double and tripled really opened up Winovich. He and Bush balled out. Honorable mention for Metellus just blew the coverage on the lone AF TD

Hopefully Gary just jammed his fingers. Dude was a monster holding up to doubles all day.

About 3.5 yards per carry for Air Force. Michigan's offense still outrushed Air Force. Very happy with the defensive performance.

This defense needs to be perfect for us to win games. And I think they know it. I want to kiss Don Brown on the forehead.

In that our defense is elite. Winovich was an absolute beast all day. Our D-Line has not missed a beat through 3 games this season. I was also pleased to see that the only AF td was on a coverage breakdown and not just Kinnel getting beat. Still wasn't great on that play but those are teachable moments.

Talking at the half about how Michigan was going to have to figure out how to stop the AF option. AF had 92 yards rushing and 0 yards passing. WTF? Was that on the talking points for the game, so they just had to say it?

Letdown.  The D didn't score in this game.    /s of course.

Defense is lights out. Just a couple busts but that happens. These guys will keep us in every game as the offense slowly develops. Not worried about Purdunkin

Basically three mental errors (long run that led to the 50 yard field goal, the TD, and getting flanked on the one long McVey run that set up the missed field goal.  For a game against a triple option that's fantastic.

Almost perfect. 2 small busts, 1 big one. Held AF to 13 points, when they've had >24 for almost 10 straights or something. The offense plays even just average and we're talking about this being an A+ game for the D, getting AF into obvious passing situations. Instead they had to take on the option attack all game.

Same story different week. Don Brown earns his paycheck every single Saturday. Defense showed up in spades. Had a few busts but that happens against triple option teams. Would happen to Alabama too.

Just need to never play service academies....

I count 3 sacks for -27 yards in ESPN's play-by-play.  Adjusted:

Rushing 195 yards on 46 rushes: 4.2 yards

Passing: 37 yards on 12 attemps (1 completion, 8 incompletions, 3 sacks) for 3.1 yards per play.

* Counts as rushes any (if there were) plays designed as a pass where the QB gained yards.

Couldn't have played much better. Very well done given the opponent.

This defense played Mchigan Football today. Just awesome. Our defense will probably be the sole cause of a good portion of our wins, and this is one of them. The "Rashan Gary Making Big Plays" weapon is finally operational which is exciting. Mo Hurst kept the pressure on, but unfortunately no big plays. I wish he got some snacks for lunch. I wish Mike McCray could get more solid because it seems like he has been shakey this year. Oh, and as usual, Devin Bush was EVERYWHERE. Our defensive backfield did their job. When those occasional passes happened (other than the TD) they were ready to make plays, whether it was batting it down, interceptions, or making a tackle. Very proud of these guys for taming Air Force's scariest weapon (in football).

Holding them to less than 200 yds rushing is a win for the D!!! Way to keep balling fellas!!

To get better. Still haven't had secondary challenged.

I thought the D did great. Young D against a different O that punishes miscues is a potential bad situation and they did what they need to do.
