SIAP : THE 1997 / 1998 Championship Team

Submitted by ldevon1 on

Will be honored at the game this weekend, and Charles Woodson is the honorary Captain / guest of the football team. If you were, are nervous about this game, the fact that these guys will be around should help ease that discomfort. They should be really pumped, and the similarities between this team and that one are weird if you ask me. No Woodson, but the defenses are very similar. That year Penn St was the favorite to win conference, and we had to travel there. Anyway, in case it wasn't posted I thought I would remind everyone.

So is Charles the honorary captain for both msu and osu then? Per coaches youtube channel confirmed he was for osu. Not that I'm complaining mind you. The more Charles Woodson is around the better!

Someone please do some digging and see if Charles is the honorary captain for Ohio game. Like Jim said we need Charles and we have to beat those guys. He's the perfect man for that game

U of M will play OSU every year on the last Saturday of the regular B1G season. Usually at noon or 3:30, but always Thanksgiving weekend. Alternating home and away every year. Michigan gets home field this year. This has been going on since the beginning of time, or longer than I can remember.

this is happening on MSU weekend.  I was at Spartan Stadium when Woodson made that one handed interception.  The crowd went silent, like they could not believe their eyes.  The disbelief that one player could have such superior athletic ability to make such a play - and he was a hated Wolverine.  Screw Sparty and Go Blue!

No Woodson on this defense but gotta say that the kind of dynamic impact presence that Devin Bush has on the field from play to play is pretty reminiscent of a young Charles Woodson (maybe somewhere between So. ans Jr. year levels). There have been some great players on the defensive side of the ball in the last 20 years. I was lucky enough to be the same year in school as Woodson and watch every minute he played, I didn’t think I’d ever seem someone again who had that kind of presence on the field but I don’t think it’s going out on an early limb to say that Devin Bush is about as close to it as we’ve seen. Obviously different position so different impact but when you see a guy who just changes your expectation for the position to such a level, you can’t help but sit up and take notice. Kid is just straight up nasty. Game changer.
