I actually knew this a couple of weeks ago, but of course did not say anything on this blog (or anywhere else). Ozzie Newsome is one person who helped convince him to return.

Great! This does not help my efforts to care less about u of m football next season. Eh,  it never works anyways.  Come August I will be totally geeked.

Shea seems like an incredibly likable guy and a great leader for the team.  I expect the offense to more than make up for the losses on defense!

This gives another year for Dylan McCaffrey, and also, a good example for Cade McNamara to watch. This should be very good for the future of Michigan QBs.

Now I am hoping the talk that Pep Hamilton is being replaced is true. Yes, he doing a fairly good job. I'm not saying he is doing a bad job. But we've seen what he can do. And Michigan passing game should be better than what it is now: marginally higher than pedestrian. I would say lower than pedestrian. But Jim McElwain had a great influence on the receivers, and kept it from being at that level this year, IMO. Receivers consistently open, and occasionally wide open, was great fun to watch.

I'm relieved - starting a new QB next year would have strained the offense and created more naysayers at the start of the season.  Hopefully, Shea butter will lead us to the promise land.

21 TDs against 5 ints and over 2000 yards passing for 153 rating was a darn good season.

This guy loves Michigan and is a gamer -- hopefully, he's the key to 2019 being better than 2018.

With all the recruiting hype aside, this news may be the best Michigan has received. Shea returning could be the start of a true run of legit QBs for the good guys.

I love the anger comment. Kind of surprised it didn't get its own thread, but did anyone else see Fuckhead Urban still trolling us saying he couldn't have retired if he had lost that game? I just can't stand that smug motherfucker and I highly doubt it really would have changed his decision, but whatever. I'm happy Shea wants to keep the revenge tour rolling into 2019.

I am not convinced McCaffrey doesn’t beat Shea this summer and take the job. He runs much better, has a better arm and plays like a natural QB. Shea looks like a backup NFL QB, he makes most throws but doesn’t really win the big game for you.

Already posted once on this thread but again, so glad! We need a guy who’s got the Harbaugh/M experience. Yet, I’d sure like to see Harbaugh use the skills Patterson has. Please... no more 1st, 2nd downs up the middle. Let Patterson fly!

Obviously, barring injury or some other bizarre scenario, Shea will start game 1 next year. However, we are going to see Dylan in more than just mop up duties. I was very impressed with his poise and ability to move the offense. In fact, when Shea started to cramp up at ND and Dylan came in, if I were Harbaugh, I would have stuck with Dylan for another series to see what he could have done because he looked impressive when he came on.

Obviously, Dylan's sample size is small, but I am VERY encouraged by what I saw this year. He might not have the scrambling ability of Shea, but he's a stronger and faster runner downfield runner. Moreover, he can sling it, too.

Regardless, I think we have two very fine QBs in Shea and Dylan...and both will continue to get better. Like this past year, I won't be nervous if Shea left a game and Dylan came in. To be honest, I won't be surprised if we get a  Henson/Brady QB type battle this off-season and next year.
