"trying to rebuild that site into a not-toxic arm of the toxic-as-hell online MSU fanbase." You have to admire those who try to do the impossible. It gives me faith in humanity

Good stuff in the actual article, but I have my doubts there's enough rational fans at MSU to sustain a site that doesn't just pander to idiots.

Heck, give a look back at some of the early Mel Tucker posts and the fans are either blaming Tracy or wishcasting for Urban Meyer.

what a small world...Oren Basse and I travelled in similar circles in high school.  Wouldn't call him a good friend, but definitely someone i've spent some time around.

The great thing is, now that the story has broke, everybody will change their signs so that they don't have to worry about it.  So any claim that Michigan is secretly cheating will have no merit.  So if it wasn't crystal clear that games were being played straight up before, it is now.

It's a win for everybody!

I truly hope the internet has preserved TOC's 2016 season predictions.  Absolute gold.

I'm also pretty sure they literally stopped writing articles about football by early November and just acted like it was only basketball season.

This quote is great

An elite program doesn't have bad seasons. Dantonio and Mark Hollis have built an s̶y̶s̶t̶e̶m̶ empire that is built to churn out new polished talent each year. Down years aren't accepted for the frontrunners of college football, and Coach D seems to have figured out the formula to assure that doesn't happen.

You pulled no punches in being polite and just telling the other side what they wanted to hear, which is how a lot of these "Scouting XYZ team with XYZ insider" go.

Congratulations on founding MGoBlog?

Seth: We are the same people who live in the same area and interact daily in a friendly way, we just cheer for different college teams.  I am going to attend the game and respect the rivalry in a friendly way just like we did at the basketball game last year

Comments:  Seth is a fat loser and mgoblog is full of toxic assholes

WTF?

He's saying the online Sparty fanbase is toxic.  Any visit to Red Cedar or MSU Twitter circles will show you that.  Not saying UM fans are angels but it seems a lot worse stuff is coming from their side. (i know i know I'm clearly biased lol)

But in person?  Completely different story.  No sense in giving into the toxicity.  He'll go to the game supporting his team and not looking around constantly for batteries to come flying at his head because he knows your average MSU fan is just a normal person who roots for the other major team in the state.

I'll leave this one comment (as a relative outsider to all the U-M/MSU stuff where, yes, both sides need to be better, IMO) and then I'll shut the fuck up:

I think it's unnecessary and non-magnanimous --- after saying "What I’m not going to do is give air to toxicity" over THERE ---- to over HERE, in this post, make reference to the "toxic-as-hell online MSU fanbase."

I mean, you haven't been online today have you. There isn't a more toxic team community in sports than RCMB, and the fact that Oren is trying to build a community that isn't like them speaks directly to what I was talking about, and to the kinds of fans I was talking to.

You don't deal with toxic people by ignoring their existence. You deal with them by showing them they have no power.
