Score Prediction for Saturday

Submitted by MichiganFan1984 on

What is your score prediction for Saturday? With Black out maybe it changes things for you. With a chance of thunderstorms maybe that changes things as well. At this point I think we all know the basics of what we have to factor in when making our prediction for Saturday. I say we play steallar defense most of the way and hold them to 13.  They have a good kicker and they will get a TD somehow with the help of their crowd. We come out in the 2nd half on fire on offense after struggling early and the final score is Michigan 34-13. Am I crazy for this prediction?

Michigan wins 33-20. I dont see how ND is going to score more than 20, just look at the points aginst this defense last year: 17, 14, 13, 10, 14, 20, 42, 14, 10, 10, 24, 31, 26. The outlier scores were an elite QB or elite offenses combined with historically bad offensive performances on our part. There is nothing coming out of ND that suggests they are an elite offense and they don’t even have a true starter. If Patterson is mid-year Ruddock level this game is locked up mid 3rd quarter.

I predict 23 TO 13 with Blue getting the win.

ND 2 fg and 1 td

M 2 fg and 3 td

Now to really go out there M scores td early then keeps lead until late ND td. M then gets td and a very late fg as icing

My head says that ND will pull out some crazy play at the last minute to win the game.

My heart wants to believe.

Can I make two predictions? I think this games hinges on the play of Patterson.

Scenario 1) Patterson plays great, (which for us means simply solid) and he is able to throw the ball just enough to keep the defense honest and allow us a little bit of running room. We win 24-17

Scenario 2) Patterson still isn't comfortable in the offense, despite what players and coaches have told us in fall camp, he throws two interceptions. With no passing game, ND loads the box and we can't run the ball, plus it starts to rain in the second half. ND wins 21-10.

Here's hoping for #1!

Are we still of the belief that rain somehow is the ally of our opponents and an enemy of ours?  Are other coaches gifted with some sort of medieval spell-casting abilities that harnesses mother nature?  I want to understand, but I mostly think these sort of takes make us look pathetic.

Tough game to win on the road. All things being equal (which they aren't) we win this game. The challenge we face is that it's a night game on the road with refs that will likely favor the home team. Sadly, I think the refs will play an unfair role in this game and keep it closer than it should be.

Watch the penalties and how many holding calls are made against NDs O-line. They will have to hold on nearly every play to keep our D-line at bay.

That said, I think we still manage to win by one score. M-21. ND-17.

Michigan 27, Notre Dame 10.

Even with this I'm a little uncertain.  Michigan could go anywhere from 20-38.  ND I think anywhere from 3-17.  No matter the spread, Michigan wins and gets that taste out of their mouth from their last visit (where I'll never forgive Hoke for not kicking that FG).

"Michigan hasn't beaten a ranked team on the road, blah blah blah" so sick of the Valenti narrative spin.

2017 Florida ranked #11

Michigan goes to South Bend and wins 24-9

That same game was not played in Ann Arbor either.  'Neutral' site games are still a road game no matter what spin people may want to give them.  A 'neutral' site game that happens in Dallas is a LOT closer to the fanbase of the Gators (or the Tide) than that of the Wolverines.  Bowl games are also a road game unless you get the odd happening of the team that plays in that town playing in the bowl in that town.

Notre Dame was strong defensively last year and returns 9 starters from that unit.  Ditto Michigan.  Both teams have a lot of question marks on offense.   With Black out and given both teams are similar, I'm going against my heart and am picking the home team.

ND 17

UM 13

23-10 good guys but a little trouble getting in the end zone consistently.  Only two TD’s in six red zone trips.  Nordin misses one out of four. Defense lives up to the hype but a fluke play nets ND a touchdown
