As a follow up to the previous thread where Rutgers fans were talking trash about Michigan and calling this game their "national championship," here are some genuine schadenfreude comments I was able to find.

Yes, to all those who will ask, these are all real - though I am not sure how many are from Rutgers fans exactly vs just casual observers. And tbh there are so many that I couldn't copy them all. My cup runneth over, guys. If you don't believe me all you have to do is twitter search "Rutgers".

Reading the comments from the nj.com article, people are very reasonable. Harbaugh even apologized to Ash the article says. Lots of depressed people there, losing by almost 100 will probably do that.

I was on my way home from A2 last night and heard the game on Sirius. Play-by-play was the Rutgers broadcast crew. Best moment was the interception that got called back. "Michigan won't get the shutout!" "Watching the replay... it looks like it might have hit A SHOE. Not enough to overturn the TD..." (Referee overturns the TD). "JEE-SUS!"

So, this was their "National Championship Game"? How does that work? - Losing 58-0 in the "National Semifinals" and yet advancing to the Championship Game? Well, I suppose some level of suspension of disbelief is required to make their NC Game scenario work.

An insight into how unrealistic some people can be if they are casual fans and when they use social media.

Not as well known is that there was a lot of hype about how Ash was supposed to make Rutgers relevant in big time athletics. Evidently a lot of money went into the program (Ash is reportedly making 7 figures and that rankles a lot of the campus people) and there are allegations of political shenanigans (NJ and political shenanigans as part of something - who knew /s) but worse was the notion that this was going to be Jim Harbaugh vs Rutgers. We know about the camp thing over the summer (Ash organized a camp with Urban Meyer to be held the same day and time as the Harbaugh camp) but this effort to make it a personal thing (see NJ.com http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index.ssf/2016/10/chris_ash_already_f…). 

Reportedly the attendance was about 54,000 (4th largest ever) but evidently there was a very sizable chunk of Maize and Blue supporters.
