Saturday Noon Game Thread

Submitted by alum96 on

Not much out there on the slate that pops out - probably the most interesting game is Maryland at Indiana but it has a weird time slot at 1:30 PM.  If Tenn is improved their game vs Georgia might be worth a whirl

Wyoming visits Spartans

South Florida vs Wiscy

Tulane v Rutgers

Tennessee v Georgia

Northwestern v PSU

Iowa v Purdue

Vandy v Kentucky

I feel really excited for Shane, a bit disappointed for DG, and overall positive about the effect that will have on the team.  I know the players love/respect DG, but they also know he's been struggling and might have been hoping for the coaching staff to give Shane a chance -- by all accounts Shane is very popular.

From a schematic stand point, I think Shane arm strength is going to create a positive cycle for Michigan offense -- he's able to stretch the field, which should open the run, and then that will open up the play-action passing off the run.  As other have pointed out, DG's struggles have allowed opposiing DC's to all but abandon the back-end defense, which makes his and the RB running that much harder, and the play-action all be ineffective.

Would be best in a spread passing offense. Quick reads, higher tempo, spread the ball around and get it into the hands of your playmakers. Use your legs when you have to.

I don't think he's a dropback passer. I'd much rather see him in the gun spreading it out and playing pitch and catch.

I don't like that.

If you yank the ball out of the receivers hands before his knees touch the ground and the ball is between his hand and his neck, that doesn't count as having possession, so no fumble?

PSU offense looking atrocious, but everyone will still be slobbering all over Hackenberg for the rest of the year.

I honestly don't know if we're going to beat them, but if we don't, I hope our defense at least makes life miserable for Hackenberg all night. Bring the noise, Mattison.

I am glad Dantonio doesnt run up the score or anything, with 1st team offense in up 42-14.

Also Nike is doing a great job off matching the uniform to the helemt, only off by about 4 shades of green.

I am down on Michigan Ave in Chicago. I'm near the Apple Store and was hoping someone knew of a good bar/restaurant near there to watch the Michigan game? Any help is appreciated.

Depressing watching Msu, they are so much better than us, their coaches are so much better than us, it stinks. The creativity and fluidness with their offense, I don't get why we can't do this? Frustrating.

Sent a NW guy to the hospital who was trying for a low tackle. He should be ejected for targeting but he won't be because you know.

Dude is competitive but he's clearly an a-hole

Watching these games you see how the Big 10 has "5 of the top 14 defenses in ALL OF FBS!"

so many of these offenses are wretched, as are these MAC teams we play 1-2x per team.  Might be 10 of the 14 teams in the top 30 by the end of the year in total defense.

We are to overstated defensive stats as the Pac 12 is to overstated offensive stats.

I feel like forcing people to watch Iowa football as punishment instead of prison is a viable solution to prison overcrowding.

3rd and 7 3 yard outs are the most frustrating thing.
