I don't really know who to blame yet, but I think the defense needed to perform better today. Very undisciplined day for these players.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:45 PM ^
Yes lot of little mistakes both sides ball, the problem is not Don Brown, the defensive line is undersized and no depth and this is why M can only hang for about 2 quarters. The recruiting and development of the d line is not good right now. Mazi smith and Hinton r 2 big recruits and barely play. And the 2020 class has ZERO DT’s! That’s where the game is won. Why was michigan elite in 2016? Deep and talented defensive line
November 30th, 2019 at 2:19 PM ^
Wrong. RR's defenses were worse than Don Brown's.
That said, Don Brown deserves to be ushered out. 28 points at half in The Game? Terrible late hit penalty on first drive of 2nd Half to give them 35?
He's overrated. We have enough history now. He needs to be ushered out.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:27 PM ^
How the fuck are people blaming Brown for McGrone's late hit?
November 30th, 2019 at 2:31 PM ^
Because, as of this post, the last 12 OSU drives are:
10 Touchdowns
1 End of game
1 punt
Without saying anything about Brown's future, this is Rutgers-level incompetence.
Edit: Now 11 TDs in 13 Drives
November 30th, 2019 at 2:40 PM ^
Also, Juwan Howard has more top 10 wins as a coach than Jim Harbaugh, and Brown is a big part of that.
November 30th, 2019 at 3:13 PM ^
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Brown has totally saved Harbaugh's backside on more than one occasion. This team was completely carried by the D for the last 2-3 years
November 30th, 2019 at 2:52 PM ^
Maybe because Brown teaches "Solve your problems with aggression" mentality, which has its good's and bad's. The bad's being regular stupid penalties by the defense like offsides on a 4th & 4 punt and late hit out-of-bounds.
Stop coddling incompetency. We've been doing it since the very first year when Woodson left for the NFL and Lloyd Carr remained our coach until 2007. It explains our 2-17 record against OSU. Only leaders understand this. MSC and Bill Martin and Dave Brandon were not leaders. If Manuel lets go of Harbaugh, after his A+ hire of Howard, then I will believe he is a leader.

I honestly cannot understand any fan that DOESNT feel this way right now.
November 30th, 2019 at 3:29 PM ^
I’m on board.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:24 PM ^
You think the D is worse than the special teams?

Fire the Fire X posts
November 30th, 2019 at 2:27 PM ^
undersized d line is an issue. don't believe the scheme is inherently faulty.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:33 PM ^
Brown sucks in big games and non existent in bowl games. He needs to be retired. Glad someone else has the courage to state this.!
November 30th, 2019 at 2:48 PM ^
Courage?
November 30th, 2019 at 2:41 PM ^
That would be the fault of Don Brown’s recruiting !
November 30th, 2019 at 2:31 PM ^
I was curious what the TD to punt ratio has been, bc it seems like they never punt. I went back to 2015 ...
25 TDs allowed, 17 punts forced.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:33 PM ^
Update: 26 TDs, 17 punts ... It's not a rivalry if the endzone stops a team more than your defense does, lol.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:31 PM ^
You are forgetting how bad Gerg defense was. Also those Ohio state offenses weren’t nearly as lethal and stacked as these teams are.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:32 PM ^
Fire everybody !!!
November 30th, 2019 at 2:33 PM ^
There is no excuse for Don Brown any more. FIRE fire Fire Fire Don Brown and start it over. We can't compete even against the second string
November 30th, 2019 at 2:34 PM ^
Pep is black though, DB has a much longer leash with this fanbase
November 30th, 2019 at 2:41 PM ^
Sure seems like that. This fan base loves their old grandpas that shout on the sidelines but actually suck.
November 30th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Don't try to pull that card. Don Brown has had multiple top 10 defenses. How many top 10 offenses did Pep have?
November 30th, 2019 at 5:41 PM ^
Instead of pulling the race card, you could admit that the fact that Brown has produced a top 10 ranked defense every single year he’s been here and the defense has singlehandedly kept us in/won multiple games is what has given him a longer leash.
You REALLY want to pull the race card? We can compare how Pep’s offenses have ranked vs how Brown’s defenses have ranked if you’d like.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:34 PM ^
Oh, never mind. What's the point.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:34 PM ^
Harbaugh is the best we can do. Right guys?
Ryan Day looks like his mom drank a fifth a day while she was pregnant, but he’s outcoaching this entire staff.

November 30th, 2019 at 4:27 PM ^
Not sure which game you watched, but Day didn’t outcoach anyone. He simply has better horses on the field, which is a carry over from Meyer. OSU did absolutely nothing spectacular or unexpected in this game. Read the MGoBlog articles by Brian and team, they predicted this is how Day coached this game and how he’s coached every game. His basic philosophy is whether or not the opponent can keep up with his 5 star thoroughbreds. 100% of the time in the Big Ten, they can’t. We sure can’t keep up.
November 30th, 2019 at 5:46 PM ^
How exactly did he out-coach anyone? They’re just flat out better. More talent. Period.
Their gameplan is incredibly simple. They just have so much more talent than everyone, including us, that it’s all they need. The breakdowns of this game all week covered this. It’s going to be simple. It’s going to look like an 8 year old kid’s playbook on Madden. But it’s going to work because they have that much elite talent.
Day didn’t coach better. He simply had better players at every position across the board.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
These games are sort of boring at this point.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
He is a decent coach. Aggressive and crushes inferior teams, but is a one flavor coach. I appreciate him for what he is, but it's time for him to go. Who knows if the next guy will be better, but we do know Brown can't get it done.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:39 PM ^
Seems like Brown can shut down everyone but Ohio.
Also Ohio has better athletes nearly everywhere. It's just obvious at this point.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:39 PM ^
Josh getting roasted out there ! How about next man up ? Our captain DT getting stood up every play as well ! Look for them to score 70
November 30th, 2019 at 2:47 PM ^
Penn State certainly didn't shit the bed against OSU...ON THE ROAD.
Don Brown shits the bed against OSU on the road AND at home.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:41 PM ^
DB sucks.
OSU >>>> whatever Harbaugh's doing
November 30th, 2019 at 2:42 PM ^
DB sucks.
OSU >>>> whatever Harbaugh's doing
November 30th, 2019 at 2:43 PM ^
The piss poor recruiting by Harbaugh has never been more evident. You can NOT rely on under the radar 3 star guys you see at a satellite camp. We never wanted to admit it and always defended the coaches finding diamonds in the rough. You cannot beat Ohio State without elite 5 star talent
November 30th, 2019 at 2:47 PM ^
This. This is the reason more than any other reason. We’ve got to get better talent. Hopefully the new NLI rule will help our recruiting.
November 30th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^

To be fair RR defense didn't deal with
top 5 Heisman QB
RB who in 2 years is #2 ALL TIME on OSU rushing charts and would be in the Heisman talk if 2 of his teammates weren't #2 and #4 in the voting.
an OSU team that's going to win the National title.
a 5 star player at every position
RR's team would give up 90 to this OSU team/
November 30th, 2019 at 2:46 PM ^
We need to focus on our DT recruiting, and get a BIG time CB each recruiting year.
There is only so much you can do if an elite OLine is going up against a vastly undersized lined.
November 30th, 2019 at 4:31 PM ^
Secondary recruiting could use a bump based on what I saw from Hudson and Metellus.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:48 PM ^
Players have played a bad game defensively. It's not all on the coach. I saw many wrong assignments.
I get tired of hearing this. OSU did not have NEAR the team they have had of the past 7 years then. This is still a Meyer team. Much like Switzer road the high from Jimmy Johnson's Dallas team to win his SB this is what is still going on now with Day. Day is not Meyer and this won't last just like Dallas fell of the grid shortly after that win.
There were at least 3 huge mistakes by the D in this game along with the offsides on that punt, along with a frustrated 44 hitting the QB out of bounds.
Our offense is for sure getting a WHOLE lot better and OSU is a good team and yes I hate saying that. We have made strides this year and I still feel we are kepping this game respectable. This is not an easy game for them. Way too many mistakes in this game that we had to play super clean.
November 30th, 2019 at 4:38 PM ^
I appreciate Your take here and definitely hope you are accurate in this prediction. I happen To agree with you about Day. He’s not proven anything. When you have vastly superior athletes, it’s just as simple as rolling out the ball on the field and challenging your opponent to try to keep up with your horses.
unfortunately, a playoff appearance in his debut season doesn’t spell well for Harbaugh’s hopes of winning any recruiting battles against Day. To recruits and their families, Harbaugh simply looks like he can’t get the job done, although I think He’s the best option we have.
in terms of coaching, Brown should be the only one on the hot seat IMO
November 30th, 2019 at 2:50 PM ^
This defense was not prepared to beat OSU. Repeat - not prepared to beat OSU. Brown is not the answer. Time for a change.
November 30th, 2019 at 2:52 PM ^
If we were in person right now, I’d physically alter your day. This OSU team is #1 and likely to win it all.
This UM performance has shown a lot of grit and talent. I’m proud of this team and good luck Clemson or LSU.
