247 is reporting that Taulia Tagovailoa's waiver request was denied, so that option is off the table.

Am I the only one that didn't want Taulia as a potential transfer QB to Michigan? He could make some great throws, and has good mobility, but it's not worth all the game-changing terrible INTs/fumbles/avoidable huge sacks that happen when he's the QB.

I don't think anyone was excited about Taulia. But people are getting desperate. I don't want Taulia to be our best option, but I don't know that he wasn't (except I don't think he would ever come here even if he got the extra year).

Still hoping something magical happens in the spring portal or that Orji/Denegal/Davis somehow emerges. I'm hopeful about Orji even though I know a lot of people think somehow the book is already closed on him because he wasn't asked to pass in 2023.

Yeah, not a surprise.  It must suck to have a season wasted because you came in during a blowout your freshman year but that's life.  He might as well move on to the NFL at some point.

I never thought he’d get the waiver, nor that he was a fit for Michigan.

Despite the team he was on and the system, I think Will Rogers would would actually be a great fit. Part of the skill set required for air raid qbs is the timing on throws and Some of JJs best passes this season were timing throws. Give Rogers a spring practice and fall camp to get acclimated and he’d at worst be a McNamara, but likely a bit better as his arm is better. Definitely not a runner though.

He has 30 days from Friday or Saturday to transfer, and he certainly won’t transfer here with the head coach not a given to stay.  But we can talk to him for the next month without tampering while he takes his time to decide.  He presumably can pay for his classes while at UW if he wants to hedge his bets.

To bad. It was an interesting thought about him being a Wolverine.

Not sure why he really wanted another year in college, cause I think he was a pretty good QB. Just to bad for him that it was at Maryland. He was the main reason it wasn't a guarantee to beat them.
