Recruiting Updates

Submitted by MJ14 on

Well I think we all could use a little good news after that loss tonight. So first let me start with the bad news and just get that out of the way.

According to Coach Brown from The M Block, we will not be getting Artavis Scott at Michigan.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, the good news.

@coachbrown3 who you think the next commit will be?

@jkillinit248 I think it maybe Tommy Doles. Who knows though, the Mone commitment kinda snuck up on me...tough to say.

Maybe...just maybe, on commit watch this weekend again. #goblue

Word on the street is both Mike Webber and Drake Harris are visiting this weekend. Harris was originally only coming back for the IU game, but according to 24/7 sports, he'll be in AA this weekend.

Is half the information on MGoBlog not just 'dug out' and shared on here?

I have zero dog in this fight, but it's funny how information about a kid's feelings and who finds out first mirrors a highschool lunchroom....

This is easily one of the dumber threads I've read on MGoBlog, and that's saying something.

Who cares what some jerk at 247 thinks of this guy.  If you dont like him, don't go on his blog.

I guess it's good to see Harris continuing to come so often, but there's nothing about that recruitment that doesn't scream it will be long and drawn out.  The attention, the schools coming into play... just seems like it will be going on for a long, long time.  Glad we're an instate school and should be able to hang in it for so long with no problem, but I'm expecting that to go into his senior HS year.  Probably taking his officials.

you are therefore that person. I have seen it like, twice in my life as a blogger. Therefore, it applies to all cases. This is the logic of a Michigan Man. This is the sublime intelligence!

If you're still reading this thread Coach Brown, some of us still love you.  Thanks for all the FREE info.  You're a true fan.  And even if the news isn't always rosy, we still want to hear it.

that no one has yet. He was the VERY FIRST person, not Sam or Allen or Steve or anyone, to say that Wilton Speight was one of our Top 3 possible QBs and that Borges was going to go see him throw that next Friday (turned out Borges couldn't make it and Coach Heck went instead). NOBODY had said that before he did. Then the next day or two, the other sites got in contact with Speight and turns out Coach Brown knew exactly what he was talking about.

One thing I don't like about the guy is that he tells people where players will go. "Drake Harris will end up at Michigan" and "Artavis Scott won't be a Wolverine" are things you don't say as a "Recruiting Analyst" (which he isn't). He could say Harris has a good shot at UM and Scott is a long-shot, but come on..

I don't get people who claim that players aren't going to a certain school before that school even plays its next season.  So if DG blows up in the passing game and one of our WRs has 1300 yards and 10 TDs Artivis Scott isnt going to take notice because they already had an opinion of the school and it can't change?

Who's Coach Brown and why do I care? Is he actually a coach, or is he the new TOMVH, Aquaman?

Serious question here.

Edit: I see others have asked this same question. I think "Coach" Brown needs to introduce himself to this board (if he hasn't already).

Who is this nefarious Coach Brown any ways?  I went to his "site".  It was sparse, and that is putting it nicely.  I guess that is the way to become a recruiting analyst.  Know nothing, and just guess, claim that kids are unpredictable.  Kind of sounds like CEO methodology!

I don't know Coach Brown but I am not bothered that someone is out there trying to put together recruiting information. I don't know what some of the issues are, it's free. Take it for what it is. If he tried to charge for it I could understand alot of the comments directed toward him. Alot of folks say he bothers kids to get them to talk to him. They don't have to, I don't think, but alot do. If there were 20 sites like his I still don't think I would care.

The only thing MJ14 said that made any sense was that he "could care less."  I agree, you could definitely care far less about Coach Brown/recruiting sites than you do, brother.
