Records of the 10 youngest teams in CFB

Submitted by Occam's Razor on

This board needs to take a chill pill and go with the flow for the remainder of the season.

I was listening to Michigan Podcast last night (good listen for all of you on the ledge) and a list of the 10 youngest CFB teams was brought up in a tweet by Michael Spath per Phil Steele.

The respective records are:

UM. 5-2

USC. 6-2

MSU. 6-1

Ill. 2-5

Duke. 4-4

Ark. 2-5

Pitt. 3-5

Stanford. 5-2

TAMU. 5-2

UF. 3-3

I'd say 5-2 is pretty damn good considering we don't have an Oline, QB, de facto RB or WRs like many of these other schools do. (Looking at you Stanford, USC and TAMU especially!!!)

I doubt a Jim Harbaugh Michigan is sitting at 5-2 with talent like Bryce Love, Sam Darnold, Stanford Olinemen, or Christian Kirk suiting up for the Maize n Blue.

Yes, we probably should be 6-1 but shit always happens against MSU.

We got 3 weeks of semi-decent teams to improve against until Wisconsin and OSU.

Relax.

Michigan's record looks decent, but doesn't properly indicate how the season has gone. They played like garbage offensively even during the wins, and weren't able to get the backups any significant time at all this year. This season has collectively sucked, regardless of record. I'll leave it up to the experts to place the blame.

I don't know that seeing the records of the youngest teams will cause anyone not already perturbed to become less so, but I do believe that at least in some of these cases, the staff has a fair amount to do with it.

Certainly, that's not the only thing at play, and yes, there are things about this team that are ...... not what we would like (I'll be tactful),  but there are not a lot of staffs that could get a young team to do what, say, Michigan and USC and a few others have been able to do, and if you saw the 538 study the other day, it does a decent job laying out how difficult that can be. It is one of those things that makes me confident that Michigan is in good hands overall.

actually supposed to make anyone "relax"?  At best, we're a middling young team only ahead of such college football luminaries like Pitt, Ill, and Duke?

And I hate comments like this:

I doubt a Jim Harbaugh Michigan is sitting at 5-2 with talent like Bryce Love, Sam Darnold, Stanford Olinemen, or Christian Kirk suiting up for the Maize n Blue.

Did I miss something here?  There is no rule saying Jim Harbaugh can't go out and find young talent.  Those players you mention by name are Soph or Juniors - why should I feel better that USC, Stanford, and A&M found better underclassmen?

Can we stop turning every fucking thread into snowflakes? Jim is a proven winner and you dimwit have no patience at all. Stop acting like the sky is falling. I'll gladly bump this when we are competing for the national title in 2019.

I don't like being told what to do. No that that's out of the way, I think many many people should take some time to practice mindfulness and explore their emotional states, triggers, coping skills (adaptive vs maladaptive) and for some seach Borderline Personality Disorder criteria and contemplate treatment options. Howevever, the frustration of this fanbase is warranted and certainly understandable. When you compare what Don brown did last year and how much has carried over to this year, and contrast that with the offensive production, well I hope you are educated enough to recognize the various issues that DO exist (See Underachievement Diaries for excellent extrapoloation).
