Rashawn Williams

He committed to Indiana today.

Anyone know what the deal with him is?  Rated very highly, had a bunch of high quality offers early on (UM, MSU, OSU, etc.), but released a Top 5 yesterday with no big powers and committed to Indiana today.

Guessing there is a reason the big schools weren't in it at the end, but no idea why.  Also, seems ripe for perhaps a flip by someone late.

Maybe he saw all the people crying about players skipping a pointless bowl game after sacrificing their life and body for 4 plus years and said nah I'm good.

Or all the rude people to Poole encouraging him to move on.

Or all the people who claim they want harbaugh fired.

Or it could simply be about football. I don't have any insider information, other than what a subscription to 247 conveys, but I don't think there is any dark secret here. Purdue and Indiana, which are both good academic schools but maybe not great recruiting powers, were after him pretty hard. The most likely explanation is also the simplest: the recruiting sites were just higher on him than most coaches were. It happens.

Mike Hart is the primary recruiter?

Probably started when he was at WMU?  And continued at Syracuse?

Coach Harbaugh. Bury the hatchet. Bring #20 back home.

A million years ago when JH was at Stanford he criticized Michigan's academics for athletes. Mike Hart was here at the time and shot back that Harbaugh isn't a Michigan Man or some crap. I can't imagine either of them give two shits about that anymore, but that's the story.

Williams is the highest rated commit in Indiana football history. And Purdue was the main team they beat for him.

My prediction is he won't end up being that. He's either going to drop quite a bit or eventually flip.

Mike Hart is a coach at IU. IU and Purdue both run an uptempo offense with a chance for a lot of touches. Nothing wrong with being the big fish in a small pond.

This has been talked about quite a bit.  Michigan has bigger targets on their radar and the coaches evaluations don’t mesh with the early “experts”.

The kid has been trending to Indiana or Purdue for sometime.   Congrats to him.  IU is a great school.

Very few players go to IU to play football when they’ve got legitimately better options. My guess is those other schools you mentioned cooled off on their interest and encouraged him to start looking around.

No idea what for. Won’t presume anything, but again, 9 times out of 10, guys don’t go to IU when they have better offers to play football elsewhere. That program has a ceiling that will likely never be any higher than what it is now.

Recruiting is tricky business all the way around. When I saw the title I thought perhaps he had committed to Michigan. I do find it curious that, here, fans complain about not knowing who "Rashawn" is...he has been on the board for a very long time...complain to the mirror.

I believe this is a "bird in the hand" commitment. I do believe recruits are going to "slow walk" Michigan a bit this year...why not???...see if they at least stay in the 10 win ballpark range. If Michigan or OSU wants him they will get him.

Thank Goodness Michigan stopped recruiting this kid. I wonder if he even makes it on IU's campus. A lot of red flags with this kid.
