Questions that don’t all need their own thread

Submitted by TK on December 2nd, 2021 at 2:17 PM

Hey Mgrowold, don’t blame me as I have done my part so far without making a single new thread since the game. With that being said, I have some questions I need the expert opinions of Mgobloggers on. Answer all, answer some, mock me..do whatever.

1. Health of Corum. I like the idea of having speed to punish a team that is fundamentally sound like Iowa and don’t like the idea of trying to bludgeon them. A player like Blake I think is needed to make an explosive play or two. He did that in the OSU game, but is obviously still gimpy. Will one more week make a difference or do you think he won’t be 100 pct until the bowl season?

2. In your OPINION who will be starting at QB for UM as we open 2022 season?

3. Who are your top 3 favorite UM players of all time? Mine are 1. Woodson 2. Hutch 3. Hart.
What Hutchinson has done this year is legendary and hopefully his play and leadership  will be remembered as being part of a turning point for UM football.

4. Basketball now. What is your OPINION on who should be the starting 5/rotation moving forward to give us the best chance for success?

5. And finally: Does winning The Game mean more to you than the actual Big Ten Title? You have to stretch a little because you more often than not can not win the Big Ten title without beating OSU. But, if you had to choose between beating Iowa Saturday and winning next year in Columbus, how would you vote? Personally I would rather win Saturday, but I know there are many that have beating OSU as their singular focus and everything else is secondary.

1) I don't think playing this weekend will hurt his recovery - I mean he just went against OSU.  But I don't think we need him with Edwards, because D-Ed (can we call him that? I'm gonna call him that) can also run that fast.  See how the game goes before committing...

2) Can we just save this discussion for February?

3) A lot...  1) Woodson; 2) Denard Robinson; 3) Desmond Howard   (Yes, I remember watching all of them play.  If you didn't get to see Howard, you have my sympathies.  Dude is responsible for moving Bo into modern football where the pass play was used on non-throwing downs.)

4) I don't know enough about bball, but I can see some changes are needed.

5) Why can't we have both?  But I'll take the win tomorrow along with a playoff ride.  I think this team can make more noise in the playoff than 'sacrificial lamb to the SEC Overlords'.

AC was the guy back when I started watching football, so he was my favorite for a long time. I think he had a lot to say about "modern football" with Bo as well.

I don't know how to make a Top 3 now though, there are a lot of guys to pick from. I generally pick one guy who's the most "Michigan" every year. Haskins became that guy this year when he did that postgame interview after UW.

1.  Corum seemed gimpy after the 55 yard run but I think he returned.  Hopefully we can use him, but also let's get some more of #7 in the passing game.  I tend to agree with your take that we need to spread the field with our running backs.

2.  I like them both.  #9 sure seems special though.

3.  #1= Dennard without question, just a great character and exciting .  For me there is a big group kind of tied for the top 5- Woodson, Hutch, Bush, Griese

4. I really don't care about basketball too much right now, but the 2 games I've watched were terrible. Don't think we make the tourney.

5.  Beating them meant more to me than anything else.  I would still trade another win at OSU next year if I had to chose.  It would put them into crisis mode and we'd be in Indy again next year anyway.  I am actually a bit worried about a let down this week.

I hope playing Corum didn't set him back, but I think he will be all right, especially for the playoffs.

If Cade has a really good game Saturday and looks good in the playoffs, I think he will start next year, but I think JJ will get a lot more playing time. I also think with the wide receivers and running backs, especially if the offensive line does well, they will let Cade open it up a little bit(but that might not benefit him or the team as that might not be who he is), and not have so much ball-control offense, which I think will open up more time for j.j. to play.  Is JJ's style of play what Michigan wants for an offense?

Ricky Leach, Charles Woodson, and Denard Robinson.

Brooks, Dickinson, Collins, the freshman forward, can't think of his name, and not sure who I want for the other one, but NOT John's or Jones

Beating OSU on a consistent basis helps tremendously in being able to win Big Ten titles.

1. Corum will not be fully healthy this week

2. JJ is a guess

3. We have 3 Heisman winners, there is your 3 probably.

4. Frankie, Brooks, Houstan, Moussa, Hunter

5. FUCK OHIO

Very top right of whatever page you're on there's a "Welcome" with your user name under it.  Beneath that are two tabs: "Create Diary Entry" (if you've got a longer post that isnt necessarily time dependent) and Post to MgoBoard.  If you click on "Post to MgoBoard" you'll be taken to the page to create a thread.  And on that page you'll see lots of helpful navigation tools but given you've never done it before I'd suggest creating one and then select "preview" (found all the way down at the bottom) to make sure you've got everything in order before you hit save.

Oh, and if you're providing a link to something make sure you embed it correctly as the site doesnt automatically make the links hot (click on the chain icon).   Lastly, remember you cant edit it once posted so make sure you've checked spelling and have everyting in place before hitting save.

And dont be afraid to post.  Despite my complaining on the amount of threads created this week I was very appreciate of most of them as they contained good content.  My bitching centered on the "these are my very important thoughts on things" posts that could easily be put as a comment inside of 100 other threads.  Good, new content is always appreciated!

First of all, if we lose to Iowa on Saturday, everyone outside of Michigan will dismiss our victory over OSU as a fluke.  Beat Iowa.  Hang a banner.

Second of all, our ability to achieve and sustain some level of competitive parity with Ohio State improves dramatically if we win on Saturday and move on to the CFP, so again.. Beat Iowa.  Hang a banner.

Dress Corum but don't play him.

Starting five should be Jackson, Brooks, Houstan, Diabate & Dickinson.

Also, I'd like to request UofM leave Indy victorious and 100% healthy.

  1. Play Corum sparingly and use more Edwards to have a healthy Haskins and Corum for the CFP
  2. I think Cade and JJ transferring because i still have lingering BPONE and waiting for the other shoe to drop
  3. In no order, Denard, Roundtree, Tay Odoms, Mike Hart, Brandon Graham
  4. Clone Michael Barret 5 times
  5. The Game for sure because as taistreetsismyhero said you can go to the B1G championship without beating OSU

1. the week helps.  the 3 weeks until the CFP semi will put it back at 100%

2.  cade.  not close.  and i don't think JJ bolts because he knows he'll get time and be a starter for 'the best university in the world'  (say that in your james earl jones voice)

3.  guys i knew - hammersteins and mallorys

4.  no idea.  we are a ship without a scoring or defensive rudder right now.  eli/hunter/diabate/frankie/houstan?

5.  beat osu. not a close call for me.  last saturday was one of the most joyful football saturdays in the history of my life.

1 - I think 1 week gets him back to where he was Saturday...available, capable but likely to have the ankle sit him down.

2 - Same as we see now, except the expectation for JJ will be more downfield throws.  Cade will be the starter, JJ will have more highlights.

3 - Denard...When he was just a student with the kids at Crisler, he cemented himself all the more as my favorite.  David Molk... Tough SOB.  Jordan Kovacs...Suck it Herbstreit, this kid balled out and played in the NFL.

4 - I have to defer, I've been burning the DVR down and haven't paid attention.

5 - For a long time, football for me has been over once the leftover turkey is gone.  If our next game was the Citrus, Alamo, Orange or Music City FFS(!), I would be all in since they would have followed a win against that godfersaken program.  Anything after a loss to Ohio is like football with a big pack of give-a-shit-desiccant added in.  Playing in the B1G Championship with a chance at fixing the shared national title bullshit, all after beating those mother fuckers, I cannot calm down.  Go Blue

Just going to throw in my 3 favorite players (In order of when they played)

1) Rob Lytle

2) Anthony Carter

3) Charles Woodson

All 3 were Big ten MVPs among their other honors

3. Leroy Hoard (first player I actually remember growing up), Eric Mayes (also from Portage, inspirational during the natty season), Tim Biakabatuka (beasted OSU).

4. I gotta go with Collins, Brooks, Houstan, Diabate, and Dickinson. Perhaps not the best to win at this moment, but best for the future of the program.

Another question:  Where would be the best place to watch the game in AA on Saturday night?  I am not from the area, but will be in town.  With Covid closures of some of the normal places, does anyone have some solid recommendations?  Are there any big watch parties going on?
