Question about ECU game on Peacock

Submitted by UMfan21 on August 28th, 2023 at 8:23 PM

I don't have Peacock and I'm a little confused...is this a streaming service I pay for and watch on TV (like Netflix), or is it a streaming service I watch online from my PC/phone?

What pisses me off is that I pay $170 per month for the Xtra DirecTV package, and I don't get Peacock.  The whole thing, everything, is just so stupid.  So I found myself calling DirecTV the other day and asking how I can add this channel.  Apparently, like others have said, there is no channel.  It is streaming only so I need to access it via the Peacock app using my AppleTV or Samsung smart TV.  And DirecTV is so generous, if I order it through them they only charge $2.99 per month instead of $6.99 per month or whatever the hell it is.

I decided to get Peacock and I got Xfinity’s Ultimate TV package. I get the Pac 12 Network with that along with every football channel. This weekend is going to be an  orgi of football.

Skip paying for all these diverse streaming services and do the following for free:

1) use Firefox (or Chrome, but don't do that because you aren't dumb and you like privacy)

2) add ublock origin extension

3) go to crack stream or similar online free streaming site (your ad blocker is to block the insane amount of ads that cover content on these types of sites) -- note: you can disable ad blocking on certain site like mgoblog, if you want them to get the ad revenue.

4) watch game for free on your computer, tablet or phone (and cast to tv) and don't care about these streaming wars. The cost of this solution is an occasion stream crash, but you can typically refresh and get back on in seconds. There are often multiple options as well, so if one dies, try another link.

I clicked on the app on my tv to set up an account so I'd be ready for the game. Already had it. God only knows how long I've been paying for that.

I work, so I don't have to pay extra for yet another streaming service. I think this is the future of Michigan football, pay per view. But I'm thinking future games will be $20-$30 dollars a game.

I have 5-10 at any given time.  I track them in a spreadsheet actually along with any other service that can potentially auto renew.  It's pretty easy to manage now that you can just cancel pretty much any service with a click of the button.  What I hated managing is when you got large price increases and had to call and beg someone for a cheaper rate.  I'm glad those days are over.

There used to be a guy I knew that hung out around these parts…

He sometimes rode a bit too high on his horse, but boy would he hook you up with a fix no questions asked expecting nothing in return…

Unfortunately, some of the old timers chased him off for good…

I suspect he could be found tending some pastures somewhere close by…

But he will be missed this Fall

Replays of Peacock streamed games should be available to watch on Peacock within a reasonably short time after the game ends.   I'm basing this off of my English Premier League football watching experience.   An EPL game that ends at say 10 am is typically available to watch in its entirety in replay mode by 10:30 to 11 am.

I just double-checked the recent ND-Navy game.   The replay is readily available on Peacock.   I swear EPL replays were only available for 30 days after the match, but I don't see any obvious 30 day limits advertised on the ND-Navy replay.

Bottom line - the Peacock app serves as its own DVR.    Which is nice.

I refuse to get it for this game, I'll just watch a replay of it when someone puts it on YouTube the next day. The more people that pay to watch it, the more this is going to happen

Peacock has 24-25M paid subscribers as of Q2 2023 (which has gone up since), up from 9M Q4 2021.

Peacock is free to Xfinity cable subscribers (may be a certain tier threshold, which I have, included for 2 years free), which amounts to 15.5M Xfinity subscribers.

There are over 40M separate Peacock paid/subsidized subscribers in the US alone.

Railing against people not watching isnt going to change that. It's expanding.

I still don't totally get the replay situation. I have a wedding 2-6 I'm committed to so wanted to watch the game around 6:30 that night. From what I've read here there is no record ability on peacock. Anyone give it a try at all or have the info? I should probably just go sign up and experiment with it but curious if anyone knew for sure?

It is a streaming service and you can watch it on pretty much any device.  I'll most likely be watching the ECU game on my phone as I'll be travelling.  Other wise could be on TV just like Netflix.
