PSA: Strong downpour and cold winds expected for Saturday night

Submitted by crg on October 24th, 2019 at 6:19 AM

As I'm sure we'll hear in greater detail from our resident meteorologist soon, the forecast is calling for heavy rain and strong (chilly) wind for Saturday late afternoon/evening this weekend - just in time for the UM-ND game!  Fun!

Plan accordingly if you want to tailgate or have a passing offense.

This game should have been scheduled for noon or 3:30 to avoid situations like this. I shouldn’t have to worry about taking my daughter to games like this due to the shitty weather. It’s supposed to be a family event.

end old guy rant.

Technically, this isn't late fall. It's still really early fall, as autumn is Sept 23 through Dec 21. We're still in the first half of fall until mid-November. I'll give you "mid-fall" but "late fall" is out of bounds.

But yeah, I take your point otherwise. Night games in fall in the midwest is always a risky proposition.

You obviously didn't attend the WMU game a few years back. A noon game, the first week of September, and the game cancels in the 3rd due to a typhoon.

But I'm with you, build an entire space dome over the entire city even. That way you won't even get wet while walking back to your vehicle.

There's on average a 10-15 degree swing between day and night, which in late Oct can be the difference between wet and miserable to wet and hypothermic. The B1G already doesn't do Nov night games for this very reason, and the last weekend in Oct is only marginally better.

Don't listen to these haters SagNasty. It is rare that the nighttime is warmer than the day, what with the Sun being the Sun and all. I'll take sitting in rain during the day over sitting in rain during the night any day. Or night.
