Give our offense more credit. One would think the coaches would know to throw bombs on MSU given their secondary problems.

Then again... I can also just see them running into a wall over and over again ...

Probably close into halftime. Team pulls away in the second half

While the BPONE is strong with this one, and 2015 and 2017 still unfortunately burned into my memory, I think we see the better team win tomorrow.  Just not seeing how MSU scores more than 7-10 points tomorrow.

I'm ducking out of the office approximately 3 minutes after my boss leaves today.  Going straight home to talk Mrs. Hatter into an afternoon quickie.

My prediction is that she'll say yes, but go fast, I haven't showered and we have a lot to do tonight.

Feels like another slog because these games always are. MSU had good teams in 2015 and 2017. They aren't good this year, but they might have one last gasp in them for Dantonio (even though MSU fans don't think so).

That said, outside of their annual scripted drive, it's hard to envision them scoring many points.

I'm going to go 24-14 with a late Sparty TD to make it look better than it is. Michigan's D might contribute to 7 of those 24.

24-10, game very similar to last year with UM playing it conservative and banging their heads against a wall too much but they still get a couple big plays and the defense creates a score off a turnover. MSU puts together one or two drives to get their points with some tricky playcalling.

My gut feeling is that Michigan annihilates MSU but then I remember Shea Patterson is our quarterback so that puts a hard cap on our point total. I'll go something like 27-13 Michigan.

  • Michigan gets the opening kickoff.
  • 3 and out and punt to MSU
  • MSU puts together a decent drive and ends in a FG: 0-3
  • Michigan sputters after a few decent plays and punts again
  • MSU can't do anything on their next drive and punts
  • Michigan figures it out and scores a TD: 7-3
  • MSU goes 3 and out
  • Michigan starts rolling as the 2nd quarter starts and scores again: 14-3
  • MSU rolls out a few trick plays to try and do anything on offense and scores a FG: 14-6
  • Michigan drives right down the field and scores again: 21-6
  • MSU shits down their leg and punts
  • Michigan scores before half and the route is on: 28-6

Michigan: 45

Sparty: 13

We go into halftime up something like 10-3. Their offense's short drives finally take a toll on their defense in the second half and we win 28-10.

Cautiously optimistic. But I predict that at around 11:30am, after 3 hours of tailgating/boozing, I'll drunkenly lay down a bet that we cover the spread.

24-14, Michigan.

I think MSU will score first on their scripted drive to take a lead, we'll slowly push back and at halftime it'll be something like 10-7 Michigan. Then we'll pull away a bit late in the 3rd/early 4th, then MSU scores a TD in the last few minutes in a way that though you know it doesn't matter, feels annoying (à la the 2016 game).
