Positives from SpyGate

In the long run this debacle may benefit Michigan Football.

1)  Michigan leadership, including President Ono now understand how much hatred there is from other members of the Big Ten.  Knowing who is against you is valuable.   Michigan can be more careful in any negotiations with the Big10 or ny other member of the Big Ten.  For instance, I'd want much more specific language in terms of process for any type of disciplinary action included in the B10 bylaws

2)  We now know there was a coordinated effort by OSU, Rutgers & others to help other teams win vs Michigan.  The program should go away from signs and push hard to get helmet communications.

3)  I think it's likely that the narrative will turn and it will make OSU look bad.  The NCAA hasn't seen any direct connections with the PI firm and OSU but based on the facts I'll be very surprised if there isn't a connection that is eventually found.  If it is proven, really makes Ryan Day look like a sore loser.

4)  Michigan should negotiate more aggressively in terms of revenue sharing-  if all the other teams and institutions want to F Michigan over, Michigan should negotiate very aggressively to receive a share of profits that more closely aligns with the TV ratings that Michigan produces.

 5)  ESPN/Atlantic has revealed itself as a very biased & anti-Michigan news publication.   ESPN should be given nothing - no free seats, no place to do a show, no sideline reporters, etc.

6)  Almost assuredly Warde Manuel needs to go.  With the B10's approach Michigan will need a more combative & media savvy AD than whatever skills Warde has.

Finally found the Bo quote about Carol Hutchins you made me think of:

In October 1996, Bacon and Schembechler drove back together to Ann Arbor from Grand Rapids, arriving well after most people had left the athletic campus. As they pulled into the parking lot by the old softball facilities, Schembechler saw Hutchins finally walking out of her office for the night.

“Look at that!” Bacon remembers Schembechler saying. “Ten-thirty at night, and she’s working her ass off. That is the best damn coach on this campus.”

Not sure who you are responding to with your comment on my post.  But in case you are confused, I am saying that based on the link Warde is hard at work preparing the counter strikes.

Edit: BlueC, i get it now. You didn’t bother to read the linked article which has been widely reported elsewhere.  Basically Warde had to skip the CFP selection so he could prepare Michigan’s response to the Big10.

Here is how it went down:

Ono: Your ass better be in my office on Tuesday.

Warde: But sir, I'm on the CFP selection panel! It is important for me to be there! Can't you do my job like you always do in times like these??

Ono: See you tomorrow in my office at 8am.

Warde: Yes sir. Will there be breakfast, or should I grab some MickeyD's on the way in?

Congratulations.  You clearly are the Conner Stallions of stealing inside info on the inter workings of Schembechler Hall.  /s

You just described the working relationship that might exist at a fast food restaurant, definitely not C level.  Very telling re your experience.

Here’s to hoping… Specifically #5. Was just listening to WTKA they had Balas on and then followed up with Austin Meeks. Two completely polarized perspectives on this issue. Meeks(The Athletic) is adamant that Michigan should “compromise” and take a 2 game suspension for Harbaugh. I’m like that not a compromise. 2 games is the penalty unless you get the committee involved. Just unbelievable.

espn just reported about the Michigan signs being shared, which is a move in the right direction. I'm not an expert but at least it shows how stupid this rule is. A team can scout during a live game and send them to a Michigan opponent..

3)  I think it's likely that the narrative will turn and it will make OSU look bad.

Given how nice the national sportswriters have been to OSU over the years, and how many things have OSU's way this century, I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for that one.

I thought Sparty had little brother mentality, but Rutgers, Maryland, et al, helping OSU take the division is a whole new level.

At least when Sparty cheats they do it to help themselves.

I will say this as someone who's been surfing this site since the beginning that I have never seen our fan base all pulling in the same direction like we are now.

It has galvanized our fan base more than even the day Harbaugh was hired.

I'm almost positive that it will too galvanize our team into pulling a single direction...100+ players.

Definitely fuck Rutgers, Purdue, Maryland, and all the other piddl'uns in the conference. They want to play Michigan and act entitled - take a fucking pay cut and get in line.

I'm telling you - it will take longer to get there.. but this will move in the direction of something resembling European soccer where the top programs play in a top tier and get top dollar and we finally don't have to wait for November for our season to start.

The promotion relegation will be used to justify the initial exclusion of the mediocre masses by providing them with an on ramp if they ever get their shit together.

And someday the Michigans and USCs and Georgias are going to realize there's simply a lot more money, stability, and tradition in such a future devoid of schedules bloated by Ball State and Vanderbilt and they don't need to listen to them to form their own superior system.

Just give it a couple decades..

Goddamn glaciers..

There are no positives from this.  Even under the best-case scenario, this is not good for UM or BIG. At the end of the day, UM will remain in BIG, and nothing will happen to its share of revenues or any part of its relationship with BIG.  Warde will be the AD.  There would be some bad blood among schools, but that is it.

The biggest effect would be the introduction of electronic communication with QB and one defensive player.

Santa, I don't have your brain for big deals...but this is a street thing! Lets move on them all while we've got the muscle!

Not a $ to the rest of the conference for CFB appearances. Heres my offer for share of the TV $...nothing. not even the cost of the counter investigation which I would appreciate if you would put up personally.
