Stop their ground game (both QB runs and RB runs) and you can beat them. That said, Mayfield's mobility to move around in the pocket and throw accurately was an even bigger factor. So happy they got their asses kicked.

I'm procrastinating, so I made the mistake of wading in. And we find:

  • Some reasonable people who recognize that OSU was outclassed.
  • At least one who responded to outrage about the flag plant by saying "who cares, they took us behind the woodshed." But we also find:
  • One person who "longs for a coach in a sweatervest." Apparently Urbz is a downgrade from Tressel in his eyes. One person did point out that Urban walloped Tressel in their one meeting, though.
  • And one person who wants Urban out and Kevin Wilson as the HC.

So it's getting fun, yes.

I've said from day one that the Ohio State fanbase in aggregate are the poster children (no offense to actual children) for "can dish it out, but can't take it"

And their self-righteous indignation over Mr. Baker Mayfield planting a flag tonight as an answer to all the shittalking they did for a whole year is proof positive of this.

That is absolutely true. 11 Warriors was tweeting smack at Michigan last week when we were losing to Florida in the first half. I don't normally get into Twitter debates but I'd had a few drinks so I pointed out that it's better than losing to Indiana in the first half. Obviously a bunch of them went nuts. One guy said "you suck at life" and then immediately blocked me (I hadn't even responded). It's bizarre. We could be beating the #1 team by three touchdowns and if Speight threw a pick they would talk a bunch of smack like we just lost to a MAC team. But if you say a word about them losing or something they get completely serious and go batshit crazy. You can see this happen in Brian's feed almost every Saturday.

To all the OSU fans moaning and bitching about Mayfield planting the flag at midfield:

Cry me a river you hypocritical fucks.

If OSU had done this last year you would've loved it, and you would've told OU to shut up and take their lumps. Hope Michigan gets the honors next.

Unless I misread the stat sheet, catches by Tight Ends for OSU - 1 for 13 yds.

I wouldn't worry about it though Jeremy Ruckert...  I'm sure it will be different for you.

Loved this take on 11W: "Get JT out. Start Burrow. Break every single headset Meyer can use. Let Wilson call the entire offense. Execute Order Brady Hoke. Not even kidding."

A little history about flag planting in the Big Ten. MSU planted their flag at the 50 of Notre Dame's field in 2005. A few weeks later, Minnesota did it to us at the big house. (Ugh!). Then the following year, Illinois won at Spartan Stadium and their players planted the flag at midfield...which caused the MSU players to brawl with them in retaliation, even though they were the ones who started the flag tradition. After that incident, the Big Ten said no more flag planting. But I don't know what the punishment is for doing it post 2006. Whatever. I don't think the Sooners can be punished since they're not a conference member. But I still love the salt added to OSU's wounds.
