Pickin' and Grinnin - NFL Playoffs this Weekend + Super Bowl Pick

Submitted by XM - Mt 1822 on January 14th, 2023 at 10:16 AM

Mates,

NFL playoffs start today.  The top team in the NFC and AFC, respectively, get a bye, but 6 other games will go on between now and Monday night to see who advances.  You know the routine, pick the games with the points, meaning that if a team is favored by, say, 5 points then you don't just pick them to 'win' but to win by more than 5 points.   This weekend's line-up, with the favorite team listed first

Saturday:

@ S. Francisco (13-4)           9 pts               Seattle, (9-8, and should be the Lions!!)

LA Chargers (10-7)                1.5                 @Jax (9-8)

Sunday:

@Buffalo (13-3)                      13.5              Miami (9-8)

@ Minnesota (12-4)                3                   NY Giants (9-7-1)

@ Cincy (12-4)                        8.5                Baltimore (10-7)

Monday:

Dallas (12-5)                           2.5                 @Tampa Brady  (8-9, woof)

1.  Who are your picks this weekend?

2.  Who are your two picks for the Super Bowl, remembering that Philly and K.C. have byes this week?

Have a great weekend

I've been ice cold with football all season but have somehow almost made it back with NBA prop bets.  I'll go with (please fade):

SF-9 and over 42.5, C.M. anytime TD scorer

Chargers -1.5

Vikings -3

My Eagles vs Buffalo in the super bowl

I'm a Bengals fan (points at username) but 8.5 seems like to many points against the Ravens. McDonald's done a good job with their D.  I also love the idea of an underdog Tom Brady against an inconsistent Dallas team.  Buffalo wins it all this year

The binding event of watch Damar doing a Lazerus thing on the field right in front of them will propel the Bills to the SB from the AFC side.

SF will go as far as Purdy takes them, and I say he takes them to the SB from the NFC side.

The Bills bring Damar to the sidelines, Purdy wilts under the big lights, Crypto ads completely vanish, and the Bills win the Super Bowl.

Picking against the spread: 49ers, Chargers, Bills, Giants, Ravens, and TB.  But if you are a gambler, take note that I'm not.

More importantly to me, here are the playoff teams I hate, the teams that MUST LOSE this weekend, the teams that I will rejoice over them being eliminated:

•Seahawks, but only because they occupy this playoff spot thanks to shoddy officiating that screwed over the Lions (yeah, I know, Detroit needed to beat Seattle when they played them early this season.).

•Vikings.  Damn them to Norse hell, and especially eff Kork Coupons! My dislike of this team stems primarily from a buildup of frustrations over their decades-long dominance over Detroit, then topped off by their quarterback being the MOST PUNCHABLE FACE™ in the NFL.

•The Cowplops.  I hate everything about the Dallas franchise (except maybe their cheerleading squad). Hate their owner, hate their idiot running back, hate them claiming to be "America's Team" (when was the vote and why didn't I, as an American, have a say in the matter???).  When Dallas is knocked out of the playoffs I rejoice more than anything else the remainder of the NFL season.  Also, go TO〽️ BRADY!

My Super Bowl picks?  The two bye teams, Philadelphia and Kansas City.

Yeah, I know.

I was very tempted to take the Bills but in the end, until Josh Allen proves otherwise by winning on the biggest stages, Mahomes is the better of the two QBs.

Buffalo also just seems to me to be an inconsistent team; I don't think their emotional edge over Damar's ordeal is going to be enough to get them to the Super Bowl.

Picking the Eagles, OTOH, was easy. IMO they're clearly better than any other NFC team.

I agree with your “hate” teams.  The other reason to hate Seattle is the long Carroll Harbaugh rivalry from Stanford vs USC to San Francisco.

I like Bills vs San Francisco for the Superbowl.  Just as good as the two bye teams but with much better defenses.

I don't really watch the NFL, but good luck to all the former Michigan players in the playoffs

2. Super Bowl I'll take chalk. Mahomy beats Hurts. Welcome to the SB, rookie. ;)

SF beats SEA by two TD's

Herbert loses close to Lawrence

Buffalo buries Miami

Minny by 7 over NYG

Cincy by two TD's over the other Harbaugh

Dallas loses to Brady

I like Seattle  plus 9-divisional foes know each other well and think Seattle will keep the game within reach, not ruling out a shocking upset either.

Less confidently taking the Giants plus 3, don't underestimate Vikes' tendency to blow a big game and they played each other close already this year.

I would take the Ravens plus 9 as well for similar reasons to Seattle, confident John Harbaugh will have a good game plan, though the third string QB would suggest stay away, if the second stringer is likely to play, I would take the chance.

Can’t stand Bosa but boy is he right to be mad. And the NBC crew (yawn sorry Dungy) saying they never call the False starts that are that tight? Do these people watch football? Lol
