Jake Rudock, Michigan

We’re still working through our re-watch of Rudock, but his trend is one of the most interesting in the country. Through week nine, he was the 44th-ranked QB in the draft class at -13.5, but from week 10 and on, his +24.0 grade led all QBs in the class. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has lobbied hard for Rudock behind the scenes, and he’ll be one to watch during the draft process.

Seems about right. I could see a team taking a 6th or 7th round flyer on him, but UDFA isn't bad for a guy that was missing wide open receivers and throwing late to covered guys early in the year.

Agreed. JR may never be a pro-bowler, but I could definitely see him being one of those first-rate career back-ups who comes in and wins games as a starter in a pinch, and is a leader of the team regardless. Even at this age, he reminds me of a Kevin Costner in Bull Durham - the guy that knows it all, and makes everyone around him better by hard work and wisdom...

Rudock played really well towards the end of the season against stiffer competition. If I was a GM, I would take him in rounds 5-7. He knows a pro-style offense, threw for 3,000 yards, and had twice as many touchdowns as interceptions. The kid could be a steal.

Yea this is interesting... But you can't tell me his draft profile isn't just as solid as say Matt Flynn coming out of LSU.

The thing with him will be he has to find a coach that likes him as a "no worries" QB... The problem a lot of teams don't keep a 3rd QB... So to draft him in the 6th or 7th round you have to be really sure he is going to make your team or else you'll take a player with more upside or someone that can help your team in other ways such as special teams or play mutiple spots.

An example is the Panthers. They have Newton and Anderson... Joe Webb is their 3rd QB, 5th/6th WR, Starting KR, back-up PR and 4th RB... Plus he plays on coeverage units. Even if he is only average at best he helps your roster count.

Still I think Jake gets drafted late because he will be so smart in the film room.

I'd draft Rudock. He's a smart kid, performed well, and was efficient at both Iowa and Michigan. He won't be a 1st rounder, but I can see him anywhere from a 5-7th round pick. Either way I was proud of Rudock and wish him the best, one of my favorite Wolverines next to Denard. Best of luck and as always, GO BLUE!

For all that he did for the this past year's team, for all that he was to it really, I do hope he lands somewhere and gets a chance to play some snaps on Sunday. I could see a team taking him late as a backup option, but as someone said, UDFA lets him choose among any offers he might get. I'll be interested to see where he goes next, perhaps moreso than even Glasgow or Henry.

Is really how much he improved from his last few starts at IA to the latter part of this past season. He is a prime example of Harbaugh's ability to develop QB talent. Wish him well. He seems like a great young man.

I have a feeling we are going to miss Rudock. He really improved over the course of the season and tore it up in the bowl game.

This may end up being true....however in my opinion, Profootballfocus is a site that is full of crap evaluations on players and game performance.

Jake is extremely intelligent.  He also has deceptively good athleticism and a solid arm.  One thing that I noticed about him is that he is very cautious by nature.  He is not the type of QB that is going to lite it up in practice, or at the combine etc.  It takes awhile for Jake to become comfortable with his own talents and how they fit in to a particular scheme.  However once he finds his stride, look out...the kid is a good QB.  I dont know if its a confidence thing or not...but whatever team pick Jake up... if they could just be patient with him and allow him to learn their system and hit his stride, they just may find a diamond in the rough.

Hope the kid gets drafted but lets be honest with ourselves now, he wont be the next tom brady or anything. He deserves a shot playing somewhere at some point thats all i know. Maybe he will even end up being a starter for a year or two.
