Partridge officially leaves for Ole Miss

You’re presenting a false choice. We can find an assistant that is a good recruiter and a good position coach.
And there is no staff in the country that could turn a team of 2-3 stars into a program that performs at the level of Bama, Clemson, OSU etc. Wisconsin is probably the closest you’ll get. But they can’t beat those teams. At Michigan, we could have coaches that can recruit and coach.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:39 AM ^
PJ Fleck and staff just beat Auburn with 1/10 of the talent that Michigan brings in every year.
By the way, that Auburn win trumps any win Harbaugh and staff has to date.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:45 AM ^
We also have wins against to 15 teams under JH. I think Fleck is a good coach, but let’s not act like they ran through a gauntlet to get to 11 wins. They played 4 decent teams this year and went 2-2 in those games.
But you’re kinda proving my point. Fleck not getting 4 and 5*s and he did a great job and he’s in the Outback Bowl. Big whoop.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:58 AM ^
And here we are in year 5 with Harbaugh and our biggest win was what? This year's Notre Dame game that happened to be at home, in a monsoon?!
Minnesota being selected to play in the Outback bowl has nothing to do with how Flecks coaching staff is successful in coaching up unknown talent.
I cant even imagine if Fleck had Michigans recruiting pipeline.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:12 PM ^
I can imagine it: He'd get eaten alive in the B1G East.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:26 PM ^
So basically like Harbaugh and staff for pretty much the last 5 years. Got it. It's a coaching problem. Thanks.
January 2nd, 2020 at 3:09 PM ^
Minnesota is about to go 8-5 next season (including bowl game). You still gonna be riding Fleck’s dick then ?
January 2nd, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
And this was supposed to be Michigans best chance in the B1G East this season. You dont know jack shit how they are going to do next year. I'm basing my facts on real data.
Get the fuck outta here and wipe Harbaughs jizz off your face while you're at it.
January 3rd, 2020 at 7:12 AM ^
"And this was supposed to be Michigans best chance in the B1G East this season. "
You're judging this year on preseason guesses and not what actually happened.
January 3rd, 2020 at 11:58 AM ^
No I am calling out Gucci for already predicting that Minnesota would go 8-5 next season. Preseason predictions mean jack shit. Hence why I referenced that everyone kept saying ''this was supposed to be Michigan's best chance to win the B1G East". Look how that panned out. ANOTHER 3rd place finish lol.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:41 AM ^
Also let me fix your statement "At Michigan we SHOULD have coaches that can recruit AND coach".
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:57 PM ^
GMatt was slowing down big time. Either due to age, or because he was tired of UM, but he wasn't the same coach is in years previous.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:33 AM ^
This is a big loss for recruiting. Top 10 recruiter every year. You can't compete with OSU like this. I would like to see them go after Marcus Woodson at Auburn as a replacement.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:35 AM ^
Those top 10 classes were good for a couple 3rd place finishes....in the B1G East.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:09 PM ^
Sounds like an overall coaching problem.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:13 PM ^
Sounds like you guys really have it figured out!
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:16 PM ^
Not really. I'm just like you. Someone posting opinions on a message board. Too be fair, you could make your same comment to every post on this board pretty much.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:14 PM ^
Ding. Ding. Ding.
How anyone cannot see or understand this baffles me.
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
Partridge was the #36 recruiter this year. Don brown and Moore were better this year. Just saying.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:33 AM ^
Good for him. Presumably hes always been a man of integrity and order who now will suddenly and abruptly begin to cheat left and right.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:36 AM ^
Its time to bring Mike Hart home
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:48 AM ^
Yeah Mike Hart for safeties coach!
January 2nd, 2020 at 3:40 PM ^
Bump Jay to ST.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:40 AM ^
FUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKK
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:48 AM ^
Promote Bush Sr if he wants it.
January 2nd, 2020 at 11:57 AM ^
ideally he'd be the next man up, and has position experience.
How many times did we see the safeties get burned by letting someone get beyond them?
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:02 PM ^
Curious decision by Partridge to link his wagon to Lane Kiffin and DJ Durkin, two of the most disreputable coaches in the game.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:06 PM ^
Sell out.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:08 PM ^
I think it’s time for Zordich to move on too. He’s been decent but not nearly good enough. His secondaries consistently get burned against the OSU’s, PSU’s, and Bama types. Whether it is a talent gap or not, it’s not good enough. Lavert Hill was an experienced player that got burned multiple times in big games. Same with Metellus.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:50 PM ^
Partridge coached Metellus. Michigan has numerous All-American/All Big Ten guys under Zordich’s coaching.
January 2nd, 2020 at 5:38 PM ^
Zordich was CB only this year IIRC. Partridge took safeties.
I have no issue with Zordich as a coach, just wish he had a little more recruiting oomph
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:08 PM ^
I've never been particularly impressed by Partridge or thought he stood out in any way however I can think back to times when his special teams unit made me curse at the television and want to throw things across the room. Maybe as a recruiter he was decent but I'm sure we can find another random high school coach that would be willing to work hard and refine his craft. He'll be on the breadline in 2-3 years. Ole Miss never really works out for any coaching staff.
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:31 PM ^
I agree. Guy was a great recruiter, but his coaching ability is still an unknown. However, I thought the same with Gattis and by the end of the year, I think it was a solid hire indeed.
TL;DR what do I know, I just post on message boards.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:21 PM ^
Here's to hoping we make a splashy coaching hire from one of the two teams playing a college football match on January 13.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:24 PM ^
Wasn't realistic to think he was going to stick around forever. Best of luck to him. He's going to work for a total assclown, but its SEC football and a promotion so I can't blame him.
I'm not too terribly worried about whoever his replacement is. For all of Harbaugh's flaws here, he's consistently shown the ability to hire good assistants.
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:02 PM ^
Tim Drevno and Pep Hamilton say hi.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:33 PM ^
You never know. We could be out of there in three years from now. At least, I have a feeling that Kiffin won’t last long there.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:48 PM ^
So this implies don brown isn’t going anywhere. Great.
January 2nd, 2020 at 12:57 PM ^
He will be impossible to replace. Partridge's don't just grow on Pear Trees.
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:07 PM ^
Why couldn't Mattison or Partridge have been co-dc here?
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:13 PM ^
Meanwhile... in Rome....
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:20 PM ^
I can't believe I haven't read about bringing Charles Woodson back to coach. Isn't he our go to guy when there's an opening?
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:20 PM ^
He doesn’t want to. I believe he has publicly stated that, as well.
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:23 PM ^
So 9 wins is looking more like a ceiling with the defensive scheme in place. Oh well, just be less invested in week to week outcomes going forward
January 2nd, 2020 at 3:11 PM ^
9 wins the ceiling ?? Maybe you missed Harbaugh churning out 9+ wins while being a huge disappoint for many. Criticize the coaches and team if you want, but be honest with yourself. SMH
January 3rd, 2020 at 7:17 AM ^
This is so dumb. Brown's defenses have been carrying this program for the most part, including large chunks of this season.
January 2nd, 2020 at 3:43 PM ^
Good for him. Guy was a hs coach a few years ago, now he's a DC at an FBS school. Definition of working hard and moving up the ladder.
January 2nd, 2020 at 3:53 PM ^
Sorry to see partridge go. Hope Harbaugh can find an elite recruiter to replace him.
January 2nd, 2020 at 4:50 PM ^
Is this a GOOD thing or Bad...I really dont know
January 2nd, 2020 at 5:48 PM ^
Promotion or not, pay increase or not, a willingness to work with Kiffin makes me respect Partridge less.
