OT:Vegas making a killing off the Cleveland Browns

Submitted by ralphgoblue on November 3rd, 2019 at 7:57 PM

In Early Sept the Cleveland Browns were the 2nd most bet on team (behind the Pats) to win the next Super Bowl ,the Browns were 10-1 (Caesars)  and 18-1 (Westgate) to win the Super Bowl and had millions of dollars placed on them. After todays loss the Browns fall to 2-6 (8-13 with Baker as its starter)

BUT... heres the killer ...

Vegas had the Browns season win total at OVER 9

Cleveland Browns

  • 2019 Win Total: 9 (over +105/under -115)

Vegas had a reported $110 million bet on the Cleveland Browns winning 9+ games

Hindsight is 20/20 but I didn't believe the hype to begin with. First time head coach in his first year trying to win right away with a headcase star WR, led by a headcase 6 ft second year QB. I think everyone was buying into the Mayfield hype right away because he had a solid first year. He's clearly regressed and I don't think anyone on that team thought they would still be this terrible after a garbage truck of 1st round picks over the last few years and an off-season championship

can we have a moment of silence for our friend mgrowold?  i mean, the browns are basically our twin (lions) brother from another mother.  the mistake on the lake vs. the lions - a pitched battle of desperation and fan torturing non-achievement.

Yes, then a moment of silence for Freddy Kitchens......  the poor bastard will probably get hired by the Lions after he gets fired from the Browns ... then the circle of suck will continue uninterrupted in Detroit and Cleveland forever.

Does this mean fewer Baker Mayfield commercials?  I'm tired of seeing him and Aaron Rodgers at every commercial break.  Thanks to them, I'm going with Allstate.

I am clueless when it comes to sports betting.

Someone enlighten me. Say, hypothetically, that I put $1000 on the Browns winning UNDER 9 games.

Since Vegas had them at OVER 9, how much would I win? I don't even know how odds and stuff works so if someone is gracious enough to give me a knowledgeable response, I'd appreciate it.

Neg me if I'm too much of an idiot lol.

Yes... Sometimes it’s bet 115 to win 100. Sometimes it’s bet 110 to win 100. In the latter you’d win more.

That’s the case of over/unders since there is no favorite or underdog. The Sportsbook might offer a different number, say 10 or 8 but the payout will be different depending on which one you bet on.

I hope bettors learn their lesson next year when Arizona gets all the hype.  A short, former Oklahoma QB reviving a moribund franchise in a division that's up for grabs.  All that's missing for now is Antonio Brown signing to be their OBJ.
