OT:Vegas making a killing off the Cleveland Browns
In Early Sept the Cleveland Browns were the 2nd most bet on team (behind the Pats) to win the next Super Bowl ,the Browns were 10-1 (Caesars) and 18-1 (Westgate) to win the Super Bowl and had millions of dollars placed on them. After todays loss the Browns fall to 2-6 (8-13 with Baker as its starter)
BUT... heres the killer ...
Vegas had the Browns season win total at OVER 9
Cleveland Browns
- 2019 Win Total: 9 (over +105/under -115)
Vegas had a reported $110 million bet on the Cleveland Browns winning 9+ games

Everyone makes money off the Browns except for the city of Cleveland.

...and their fans.
Edit: especially their fans.

I took this from the Cleveland Palin dealer ,but the Browns can still finish 10-6

Yes, 10 is more than 9, & the link doesn't take me to the article.

Who TF bet on the Browns getting over 9 wins?!
November 3rd, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
Some guy named Steve Jipthordle.

Lebron?

Ohioans

The Browns have been killing their fans since time immemorial, so this isn't really a surprise

Hindsight is 20/20 but I didn't believe the hype to begin with. First time head coach in his first year trying to win right away with a headcase star WR, led by a headcase 6 ft second year QB. I think everyone was buying into the Mayfield hype right away because he had a solid first year. He's clearly regressed and I don't think anyone on that team thought they would still be this terrible after a garbage truck of 1st round picks over the last few years and an off-season championship
November 3rd, 2019 at 10:25 PM ^
I will say I don't think Odell is the headcase many want to make him out to be. Or maybe he's grown...but this year for example, what have we heard from him, while that team is obviously frustrated?!
November 3rd, 2019 at 11:50 PM ^
Mayfield has clearly regressed ? What does that even mean ? He has somehow got worse after all the mental and physical practice of the NFL ?
To regress he would have to either be injured, or is not preparing for games.

Regress: The act of returning to a former or less developed state...kinda like your MGoPoints.

Technically the Browns can still win 10, or 9 for a push. Obviously unlikely but their schedule is weak.
November 4th, 2019 at 2:19 AM ^
The only thing weaker than the Browns’ schedule are the Browns themselves.

can we have a moment of silence for our friend mgrowold? i mean, the browns are basically our twin (lions) brother from another mother. the mistake on the lake vs. the lions - a pitched battle of desperation and fan torturing non-achievement.
November 3rd, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
Yes, then a moment of silence for Freddy Kitchens...... the poor bastard will probably get hired by the Lions after he gets fired from the Browns ... then the circle of suck will continue uninterrupted in Detroit and Cleveland forever.
November 3rd, 2019 at 9:31 PM ^
hang in there, buddy.
that said, it won't ever get better. the browns and lions are the two cursed teams.
November 4th, 2019 at 2:21 AM ^
True, the only real difference is the Lions know who their starting QB will be next year, and the year after, and the year after that, and the next.............

Whatever the cute little emojis are for brotherly love and empathy, imagine that I was creative enough to put them here.

Does this mean fewer Baker Mayfield commercials? I'm tired of seeing him and Aaron Rodgers at every commercial break. Thanks to them, I'm going with Allstate.
November 3rd, 2019 at 10:27 PM ^
Love those Mayhem Allstate commercials.

Moar Baker Mayfield commercials!!

I am clueless when it comes to sports betting.
Someone enlighten me. Say, hypothetically, that I put $1000 on the Browns winning UNDER 9 games.
Since Vegas had them at OVER 9, how much would I win? I don't even know how odds and stuff works so if someone is gracious enough to give me a knowledgeable response, I'd appreciate it.
Neg me if I'm too much of an idiot lol.
November 3rd, 2019 at 9:08 PM ^
Usually it’s bet 115 to win 100 so 1000 would get you $869
November 3rd, 2019 at 9:21 PM ^
So you'd get your $1000 back and win an additional $869?
November 3rd, 2019 at 9:24 PM ^
Yes... Sometimes it’s bet 115 to win 100. Sometimes it’s bet 110 to win 100. In the latter you’d win more.
That’s the case of over/unders since there is no favorite or underdog. The Sportsbook might offer a different number, say 10 or 8 but the payout will be different depending on which one you bet on.

That’s how Vegas builds those tiny casinos
November 3rd, 2019 at 11:29 PM ^
On the broken backs of Midwestern sad sacks...
November 4th, 2019 at 8:48 AM ^
The NFL would merge the Browns and the Lions but fear that the result would be a team twice as pathetic.
November 4th, 2019 at 8:49 AM ^
I hope bettors learn their lesson next year when Arizona gets all the hype. A short, former Oklahoma QB reviving a moribund franchise in a division that's up for grabs. All that's missing for now is Antonio Brown signing to be their OBJ.
November 4th, 2019 at 11:05 AM ^
Only thing is Kyler is more accurate, better athlete, stronger arm and doing more with less. If we did a redraft, I would still take Murray over Bosa. I’m not saying AZ will even make the playoffs next year, but I think Murray will have a better career than Baker.
November 6th, 2019 at 2:50 PM ^
More important than how much was bet on the over was how much was bet on the over with respect to the under.
