seems like Huepel was the brains of the UCF program not Frost

Go nuts, Rocky Top. After the years, or even decades of misery they’ve endured, they’ve earned this.

Somewhere, someplace, Peyton Manning is getting wasted tonight.

Michigan will jump Clemson and get to 4. Clemson is playing an okay but not very good FSU team tonight. Even if they win handily it won’t be as impressive as eviscerating a top-10 Penn State.

Ultimately though, the rankings right now don’t matter. Got to win that final weekend in November or this team is not going where it wants to go.

Either way it doesn’t matter. If this team doesn’t beat OSU, CFP is almost certainly off the table.

By the same token, if they do beat OSU and take care of business on the rest of the schedule, whatever Clemson does tonight or beyond won’t matter. Michigan will be in.

Michigan controls its destiny. That’s all we can ask for.

We are all celebrating Bama going down, but...

1. Tennessee will just swap spots.

2. Jadyn Davis was there. That's the kind of atmosphere that has an impact on a 17 year old.

...so I'm just going to celebrate Bama losing.

A. #6 team wins by 3 in razor thin game at home against #3.

B. #5 manhandles #10 at home 41-17.

Removing conference affiliation I believe the choice is clear. No way the #6 team should jump #5.

If we are being objective and consistent, Tennessee deserves to be ahead of us. They have road wins at Pitt and LSU, and have beaten Florida and now Alabama. They have a pretty good case to be ranked #1.

By the same token, we should absolutely be ranked comfortably ahead of Clemson, and even Georgia, based on this year’s performance.

We should be #3, behind Tennessee and OSU.

I think they will have us at #4, with us passing Clemson, but still behind Georgia.

I know this won't be a popular opinion but I'm pretty sure not only will Tennessee jump us but Alabama will stay above us.  And we don't even know right now if we'll jump Clemson.

Not only do the polls have an SEC bias but they have an even bigger Bama bias.  It is what it is.  Don't let it ruin your mood over the ass kicking we gave Penn State today.  There's still plenty football left.

I think we really just need to make sure to stay above the likes of USC and TCU because them winning out is pretty much the only scenario where a Michigan that beats OSU could still sweat if we lose another game somewhere.

Elsewhere in the SEC, I see that Brian Kelly's LSU is in a close fight in Florida. It feels like Florida should win this one, but instead LSU is up a score late in the 2nd quarter. Kelly has LSU better than many anticipated in year one.

We had 418 rushing yards against one of the best run defense teams in the country. Alabama and Tennessee combined for 296 rushing yards on 70 attempts in a 101 point game.

Poll voters will look at the 418 yards and simply assume that Penn State’s rush defense was vastly overrated and the 418 is no big accomplishment and we got our butts kicked by Georgia anyhow.

Whereas they’ll think Alabama played in a scintillating game on the road against a very tough opponent and barely lost and Nick Saban has won a million national titles so they’ll vote them ahead of us.

Heupel or Hupie as my wife thought it was pronounced, aside from his lack of having a chin, is a rather solid coach. I, however, loathe Tennessee from the Woodson/Manning days. Fuck them, but fuck Bama also. That is all.
