Both replies are simply examples of Whataboutism; nowhere in my post did I say it was okay for Rightwingers to gaslight. I will make a note to say something about the gaslighting done by the louder voice that gets the more positive reviews on MGoBlog though, as it's much more effective when used by the many against the few.

Here's a definition of gaslighting for you:

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person or a group covertly sows seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or group, making them question their own memory, perception, or judgment.

Where do you see that in Bo Harbaugh's post?

Here's whataboutism:

Whataboutism, also known as whataboutery, is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument.

Where do you see that in my post? Someone would have to write "Well, what about Republican gaslighting?" Whatever inferences you make don't really count. Note also that there's no explicit whataboutism in 4th phase's post.

Maybe if Trump closed the country down in February from any foreign travel coming in might of saved thousands of lives.

This new Pfizer vaccine is not your standard flu vaccine that you've known for years.  It's a completely new experimental technology called mRNA that can modify your DNA chain.

As in all vaccines and drugs, there are short, medium and long term effects.  With the research less than a year old, it's impossible to know how this will play out over time.

The pharmaceutical industry is also a billion dollar affair, so this also plays into the equation.

I'm a UM grad living in Brittany for 40 years.  Here in France 50% of the population is against taking this experimental vaccine.  Different networks, different information sources all go into making an independent choice.

All I'm saying is that it is best to do your own research as this is an entirely new domain that can affect you and your loved ones.

I've have been studying this subject for a long time and have much documentation, that I will be glad to share privately so as not to bog down this UM sports blog.

Boy, I bet that would be some riveting reading.  The same f'in people that won't wear masks and want everything to be "Normal" again are going to be the ones that don't take the vaccine because Bill Gates put microchips in every dose-therefore prolonging the need to wear masks and the extending the time needed before we are back to "Normal."

Why does "do your own research" usually mean believing the dumbest things imaginable that pop up on people's social media feeds? Nobody who reads scholarly journal articles uses that verbiage. Scholarly journal articles and secondary sources that cite them are what to trust on issues like this.

I posted Washington Health Metric’s now confirmed projection of 3000 deaths per day back in September.

They’ve just added the vaccine rollout to their projection.

Short summary: even worse pain still to come for the next month, but rapid recovery and fewer than 500 deaths/day (and declining rapidly) by April 1.

I would MUCH prefer to take Inovio or Novavax vaccines. mRNA, viral vector and adenovirus vaccines all pose more significant issues with safety, distribution and duration of protection.

The DNA vaccine that Inovio uses with electroportation will change medicine. And no, it does not change your DNA, it gives your body instructions on how to build a natural defense. They are working on HPV, HIV and numerous cancers as well as previous corona experience with MERS in middle east. Electroportation will be the holy grail in medicine, and Inovio has numerous patents.

Novavax's nano particle approach shows much promise with nanoflu and their covid vaccine has many advantages over big pharma's and mRNA.

But these companies can't vaccinate the whole world, and their distribution advantages are needed for developing countries. So they've been slowed down in clinical trials so warp speed can push through big pharma's vaccines to developed countries and get the world economies moving again.

It's a shame, as I believe the safety, efficacy and duration of protection for elderly and frontline workers would be much better from INO-4800 based on what I've seen so far, which isn't as much as I'd like due to peer review being held back. Now that big pharma vax is out I hope to see it soon. After all, who would take a less safe vax if a better one existed? And who would build the cold chain if it wasn't needed?
