OT - Wazzu coach gets salty after big win

Washington St coach Jake Dickert made some provocative but thoughtful comments about ESECPN's realignment manipulations after the Cougars beat Oregon State. We've been laughing at the Pac-2, but this brings home that these are real people - players and coaches and their families - who are adversely affected by this.

  • Called out Lee Corso – 88-year old studio guy called the matchup with Oregon State the “No One Watches Bowl.”
  • Called out ESPN - "It's well documented what ESPN has done to try to get our league to where it's at.”
  • Called out other P5 (P4?) conferences for not bringing WSU into the fold – “We belong."

Then, to make things more interesting, WSU alum and losing QB in the 1998 Rose Bowl Ryan Leaf put out a supportive X pointing out hypocrisy from College Game Day then got smacked down by a pretty thin-skinned Herbstreit. (in the link above)

There probably was a path with picking off other MWC and WAC (do those conferences still exist?) schools as well to keep it taped together. The Big 12 lost Texas A&M, Missouri (I know, I know), Nebraska, Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma. And every time people were ready to leave them for dead, and they would pull together and survive. They might be Conference USA right now...but Oklahoma State and Kansas State still have a conference to call home.

Also, this is a sad divorce between Gameday and Wazzu who I thought were pals. Wasn't there a celebrated flag or something?

Herbstreit being smug and inserting himself into a situation where he isn't needed?  Shocking.

I get why WSU and OSU are pissed, and I don't get why the media types have to act offended because they're lashing out.  The remaining two Pac-12 teams know they're going to be relegated to second-class status due to no failure of their own, while teams like Cal and ASU get a second life in other conferences despite being bad at football.
