OT: Test Your "Sparty, NOOOO!!" Knowledge!
https://www.sporcle.com/games/schnoxl/sparty_no
Late night procrastination has me still laughing about our Little Bro to the West. I believe this quiz has been posted here before, but it's been (unsurprisingly) updated a lot in the past few years! Take a trip down memory lane and test your brain on the most magnificent moments in Michigan State football history. Tell us your score!!

Given that yesterday was the anniversary of their last-second win over ND, and that my most significant memory is of them winning at the last second at Michigan Stadium. . . my hunch is that these things tend to even out. I do not like Mark Dantonio, and I think he's up to his eyeballs in mediocrity at present, but I'll be glad when he moves on.

This ain’t it
September 19th, 2019 at 2:05 AM ^
Man, I only got a quarter of them. They had so many chances to be terrible, i had a hard time picking the right ones.
September 19th, 2019 at 2:32 AM ^
18/35. I was just looking for opponents' names, really. I don't remember many of these games (except the Michigan ones, of course).
September 19th, 2019 at 8:04 AM ^
Same here. Got 16.
September 19th, 2019 at 4:15 AM ^
19/35
September 19th, 2019 at 5:11 AM ^
I think most Spartans fans would know these.
I dont give a damn about Sparty enough .
All i know is they are awful and allow terrible things to happen on their campus . I just want them to lose often, and especially to us .
September 19th, 2019 at 5:29 AM ^
24/35 for 69% (heh). Lots of brute force.
September 19th, 2019 at 6:19 AM ^
We haven’t been nearly good enough the past 12 years for this type of post.
September 19th, 2019 at 7:24 AM ^
12... haha
September 19th, 2019 at 9:14 AM ^
I think you meant this millennium. Not that adding 7 years really makes a difference.
September 19th, 2019 at 9:32 AM ^
It's pretty crazy, though. An entire generation of schoolchildren have gone from first through twelfth grade since the App State game. It just puts in perspective that, to millions of kids, Michigan is just App State, Rich Rod, Hoke, and now. Crazy.
September 19th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
Went to my first game in 2001 at 10 years old. There isn't much to brag about during my time as a fan.
September 19th, 2019 at 12:13 PM ^
to millions of kids, Michigan is just App State, Rich Rod, Hoke, and now. Crazy.
Actually that would be to some young adults. A current teenager isn't going to remember 2007 or 2010.
September 19th, 2019 at 12:16 PM ^
From 2000-07 we won or shared three Big Ten titles and went 7-1 against Sparty so actually yeah, it makes a difference.
It's only the OSU series where it doesn't. Then, as now, the main knock on the program is the record against OSU.
September 19th, 2019 at 6:54 AM ^
I know I had an 11, but the count shows 12. Then the site took three points off of my score.
September 19th, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
Why, did you post a sexy gif, no doubt their Moms got to you.
September 19th, 2019 at 7:07 AM ^
2016 looked like a fun year.
September 19th, 2019 at 7:24 AM ^
I was 3 and 9 on the first 12 and gave up.

Explains why the saying "memory like a monkey" never caught on
September 19th, 2019 at 9:39 AM ^
Uh, look carefully at the numbers. Take your time. It's a joke.
September 19th, 2019 at 9:47 AM ^
Old people shouldn't be allowed to use the interwebs! Negging myself!
September 19th, 2019 at 9:50 AM ^
I'm old too so I up voted you to counteract your self inflicted down vote. Should be a net gain of +1 for you.
Carry on, sir.
September 19th, 2019 at 10:22 AM ^
I upvoted both of you old farts. Thanks for the laugh.

September 19th, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
Sorry, double post. I'll leave it at that.
September 19th, 2019 at 7:53 AM ^
25 out of 35. Those were some good memories.
September 19th, 2019 at 8:13 AM ^
Found the closet MSU fan!
September 19th, 2019 at 10:42 AM ^
I hate State. I just remember enjoying those losses when I watched them. They compete right up there with the Lions in ways to lose a game.
September 19th, 2019 at 8:18 AM ^
24 out of 35, though for many I just went off of whether I knew the name of the player mentioned for the opponent (as opposed to actually remembering the circumstances of the game).
September 19th, 2019 at 8:32 AM ^
Unfortunately I have so many memories of Michigan No! moments it's hard to participate in the Sparty jampile here
September 19th, 2019 at 8:35 AM ^
Agree. We've lost 8 of 11 to them and the 3 we won were against Dicktonio's 3 worst teams. I want to crush them this year 49-0, but if it's close I'd love to beat them on a last second gaffe.
September 19th, 2019 at 10:43 AM ^
Yeah, but you can say the same thing about the Michigan teams that MSU has beaten. Six of MSU's eight victories in that span were over Michigan teams that finished with five or more losses. Only the 2011 and 2015 squads were good, and that 2015 loss was once-in-a-lifetime type shit.
At the end of the day a win is a win over MSU and I don't care how it comes about or how good or bad they end up being.
September 19th, 2019 at 10:49 AM ^
I'd like an early Staee gaffe to set the tone for the game. Maybe a blocked punt run back for a touchdown on Sparty's first possession?
Or is that asking for too much?
September 19th, 2019 at 12:11 PM ^
We've lost 8 of 11 to them
Or we've won two of three, and it would be three of four minus a gigantic fluke.
Why start counting from the RR era?
September 19th, 2019 at 12:36 PM ^
We've lost 8 of 11 to them
That's a very Sparty way of looking at it. So our 2007 win over Dantonio doesn't count but the 2008 loss does, because . . . reasons?
September 19th, 2019 at 10:20 AM ^
I forgot they lost to Hawaii and Central Michigan, that's pretty bad
September 19th, 2019 at 10:28 AM ^
Harbaugh was fined $10k for his comments about the refs after the 2016 OSU game. A google search for “Dantonio fined” returns stories about last years UM-MSU game but nothing about his recent comments. Let’s be very clear, his comment about the late flag overturning an ASU turnover impugns the integrity of the officials just as much as Harbaugh’s comments. Also worth noting, MSU was fined for last years game. Dantonio was merely reprimanded. Seems like a double standard exists in the Big 10 home office, but we’ve known that for a while now.
September 19th, 2019 at 10:32 AM ^
It's simple: Aside from MSU alums, no one cares about State.
September 19th, 2019 at 11:04 AM ^
This thread would suggest otherwise.
September 19th, 2019 at 10:31 AM ^
After the 2015 season in which they rode a series of lucky breaks to the Cotton Bowl, it did seem like some karma when they failed to score even a FG.
September 19th, 2019 at 11:01 AM ^
This is beneath us. Yes, we all enjoy seeing them lose, especially when it is painful, but the greatest insult is to just ignore them.
September 19th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
Apparently not
September 19th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
I got 21/35, but in most cases it was because I remembered the players mentioned. I only remembered the details of a handful of these games.
Only some of these are true "Sparty No" moments. Losing because the other team made a play at the end shouldn't really qualify. Now putting 12 men on the field for a game-tying FG...
September 19th, 2019 at 12:11 PM ^
I got 36 out of 35. Damn I'm good.
September 19th, 2019 at 12:20 PM ^
First time I ever saw that quiz. I only got 14.
