Cheers from Georgia. Thank god for flights home to Michigan, dispensary deals, and chill TSA agents.
April 20th, 2023 at 10:41 AM ^
Whoa I would never mess around with weed and TSA and I’m a card carrying member.
April 20th, 2023 at 10:54 AM ^
I wouldn't risk flower because of the smell, but cartridges and edibles are fine since there's plausible deniability (it's nicotine or CBD), and they're not searching your bags unless there's something in there that's a security risk so unless you have a gun or a water bottle in there they're not going to search it.
Exactly. I've flown domestic countless times with concentrates. TSA dgaf as long as people aren't smoking on planes.
Cartridges on planes are generally fine, but in my experience the pressure change tends to make them leak after landing.
Also, a friendly reminder that there are concentrates of CBD and minor cannabinoids that are derived from hemp so they're legal to order and ship federally. CBD not only has a synergistic effect with THC that will lessen some of the unpleasant effects like paranoia, but it's also a solid option in edibles for pain by itself, and for sleep in concert with CBN.
Now is also a good time to point out that cannabis is a more effective, non-addictive alternative to opiates with zero overdose potential and no risk of hyperalgesia.
Now let's get lit.
Not quarreling with your “good alternative to opioids” assertion, but there can be serious repercussions from too much THC, especially if there are conditions such as dysautonomia in play. I’ve had my blood pressure drop to critically low levels several times, and my heart stopped once. Taught me to be very careful. Didn’t teach me to give up pot.
Oh yes, I totally agree. There's always a point where there's too much of a good thing. Typically with cannabis people just fall asleep before the serious stuff starts happening.
I'm actually using only weed and nsaids to treat a few torn things in my knee at the moment. Opiates killed my sister in December so Columbus fucking Ohio will be a beautiful city with vibrant culture and world-class attractions before they're in my bloodstream again.
April 20th, 2023 at 10:16 PM ^
So sorry about your sister.
I wish we would jettison every opioid off the earth (maybe on the next space x)
please remember, hospice patients need opoids, especially fentanyl..although I wish more cbd and canabis was also used....

I've flown to Florida with carts in my bag every Spring Break since 2017. Always a good vacation :)
April 20th, 2023 at 11:05 AM ^
TSA does not care one iota about weed. I still won't take flower even though I could easily but vape pens and edibles are no problem.
If you are in a legal state and TSA does happen to find it and care, they will refer you to the local authorities who will do nothing but have you throw it away.
April 20th, 2023 at 12:50 PM ^
Still not legal in Georgia, so be aware that Clayton County will charge you criminally for contraband that is found by TSA when at Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta.
Generally speaking people would fly INTO Georgia with weed, and TSA obviously doesn't search people exiting the airport.
April 20th, 2023 at 11:04 PM ^
That's pretty well understood. Just making sure people know not to go through TSA with contraband here.
It's true. TSA doesn't care about getting you in trouble. They only care about stealing your iPad if you stop looking at the conveyor.
Seattle TSA don't care at all, Ive had my bag opened with a pen and eddies and they were like "cool bye"
If Im taking green, which only happens on a golf trip, I throw it right in the golf bag and never had it taken.
Dont use my words to decide what you want to do, but I havent had any issues with it. They looking for other stuff
Has anyone done international flight with vape pen? Taking a trip to the UK this summer and sleep like shit without a few hits of Indica.
On a side note, picked up a $25 vape pen from a dispensary today and they threw in 4 pre rolls and 2 edibles for free. 420 specials for the win.
April 21st, 2023 at 12:19 AM ^
Edibles, my dude. Don't vape on flights, they take that shit real seriously.

Though I don't partake - for those who do - enjoy. My only ask - as is with all things - be responsible when you do.

Read an article this morning about how there is a surplus of flower(cannabis) in California right now because there are too many companies legally growing and the supply has exceeded the demand for legal pot consumption in the state. Weed is of course still illegal federally and therefore can't cross state lines to be sold elsewhere. Great to be a weed consumer in California right now.
April 20th, 2023 at 11:14 AM ^
Phish is playing the Hollywood Bowl this weekend (I'm going, I'm excited, my first time at the venue!).
Anyway, I point that out because ---- whatever surplus there is in California right now will be rapidly depleted. :-)
April 21st, 2023 at 11:24 AM ^
Love the Bowl for shows. Not a Phish fan, but it's going to be a great time for you guys.
Yup! It's been that way in Oregon for a couple of years. I've heard tales of $35 ounces of flower and $150 ounces of concentrate but haven't made it out that way. Meanwhile Canada's legal market continues to be an overpriced clusterfuck by design, just to show the world how not to do it.
Username checks out!

Don't see it being made legal here in Georgia anytime soon. I believe its been decriminalized within the Atlanta, Savannah and Macon area, but otherwise still completely illegal.
Not sure there's any parallel universe that exists where someone could convince me that alcohol is less dangerous than weed.
April 20th, 2023 at 12:06 PM ^
You still have your own 420 in Georgia. Nice IPA and an excellent brewery tour. I love SweetWater flavors!
The Atlanta/Athens area has a lot of great local brews! Sweetwater is starting to get a little bit mainstream (which is ironic since I believe their company motto is "Don't float the mainstream"), but you've got Monday Night, Red Brick, Terrapin, and Scofflaw, just to name a few! I'd say all of those are a cut above Sweetwater or at least comparable.
That said, you really can't go wrong with Sweetwater, either! The 420 and IPA are both very good options, and Sweetwater 420 was what actually got me to start liking IPAs. IPA is now always my first choice. I used to drink Sweetwater Blue a long time ago. Haven't had one in years but its still pretty good.
Favorite brewery, period, might be Wicked Weed in Asheville. That Pernicious IPA is phenomenal.
The older I get the more I feel like the US isn't North & South. It's urban and rural. Every state is like this. Go to the bluest states and the rural counties are all on some yee-yee shit.

If you live in a state where medical is legal but recreational isn't, it's probably not hard to find a doctor to write you a BS prescription. (if you want to go that route).
April 20th, 2023 at 11:14 AM ^
go on line, pay $150, enter medical issues you feel weed may help with, 2 hours later get medical card emailed to you
https://www.greenleafclinics.com/ is only 29 bucks. In cali its illegal for edibles to be more than 10 mg thc. The only edibles I found I liked were 25 mg each that I got from a place that kept getting shut down for supposedly unrelated reasons lol. Once shut down for good the only other place I found selling them is in a hospital and seemingly more legit but after a year or two they started requiring a MMJ card. But I just had to fill out some form and pay 29 bucks and boom I have a card now and I can keep getting my illegally strong edibles dirt cheap. It was 10 bucks for 10x25mg edibles at the first place, its 18 bucks here, but still thats waaaaay cheaper than every edible at every other dispensary that is always 20+ bucks for 10x10mg. I don't see anything on the website saying you have to be in Cali to get the card.

recently visited OKC... there are litterally 2 weed shops on ever street corner. 7/11 buildings turned into the Dab n Go.... its insane...
Personally its not my thing, but to each their own.

weed being illegal is fucking ridiculous
drugs won the war on drugs …. good
weed in michigan in insanely cheap. $100 an ounce of very high quality … almost makes growing your own not worth the effort
April 20th, 2023 at 12:52 PM ^
Weed's not my thing, but I hate that it's still criminalized federally. Unbelievable the law wasn't modified when the democratic congress had a majority.
Laws that attempt to prevent Americans from getting what they want do not work.
Well, not without a coordinated corporate disinformation campaign to prime people to be receptive to it. Drinking continued during prohibition but psychedelic use dropped sharply once the government started telling people that acid would make people jump off of roofs before making it illegal.
The thing with cannabis is that it's always just been effective and safe. The AMA didn't want it outlawed in 1937 because of exactly that. Reefer Madness was part of the propaganda of a manufactured culture war, with the same corporate interests opposing it then that continue to pay to oppose it today (alcohol and pharma, chiefly).
https://www.history.com/news/why-the-u-s-made-marijuana-illegal
Ironically, China is going through this right now too. They've got a longer history of using cannabis for pain than anyone, with the legendary doctor Hua Tuo using it in possibly the first known anesthetic preparation sometime between 100 and 200 AD.

Weed: One of the few remaining cultural unifiers in the U.S. How long before it, too, becomes something specific to Team Blue or Team Red?
April 20th, 2023 at 12:20 PM ^
As the poster above noted, ruby red OK is weed central so you never know. In the meantime, we here in Illinois happily welcome our neighbors in Indiana, Missouri and Wisconsin to visit our border dispensaries and thank them for the tax paid.
