OT: Sources say Tennessee was dropping McDonald's bags of cash to recruits - Dan Patrick Show
Wonder what toys they include in the happy meals in Tennessee
Source: Tennessee #Vols got sloppy with recruiting. They were handing recruits cash in McDonald's bags when they visited campus.

Kinda like OSU QBs

Savage yet true

OSU QBs in the NFL = UM 5* RBs

Yeah, can't even get mad about this. Just tip your cap and tell him, "well played."

Dan Patrick is a deeply credulous person who should be ignored.
January 19th, 2021 at 11:48 AM ^
Ah yes, Dan Patrick. You might remember him from being wrong about everything as it related to Big Ten football being played this season.

If the guy who loads the cokes into the vending machines gives him a hot tip, he runs with it.

Little known fact, chicken McNuggets are an accepted form of currency in most parts of the rural south.
January 19th, 2021 at 3:26 PM ^
I live in the south. Can confirm I would accept this currency.

Isn't that an old Shutdown Fullcast bit? Coulda sworn they did a whole thing once on how 90% of major financial transactions in Starkville occur in McDonalds.
January 19th, 2021 at 11:55 AM ^
The NCAA has made it pretty clear they won't punish you for the crime as much as the stupidity you employed in committing them. This is pretty high up there.
January 19th, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
Probably receive a 2020-2021 bowl ban.
January 19th, 2021 at 5:51 PM ^
Problem is the NCAA decides all punishments with a roulette wheel.
January 19th, 2021 at 12:01 PM ^
Ha! I can't wait to see resident shovelhead Clay Travis' hot take on this.
January 19th, 2021 at 12:06 PM ^
Sounds like a self imposed 1 year bowl ban to me.
January 19th, 2021 at 1:12 PM ^
Or maybe just an apology and vacating the last few seasons
January 19th, 2021 at 2:01 PM ^
retroactive to 2020 season

If no Instagram post flashing wad with cheerleaders it didn’t happen.
January 19th, 2021 at 1:26 PM ^
Wad was an interesting choice of words in this situation

If true this is amazing and I fully support it. Firing a guy this resourceful was a mistake, if anything Pruitt deserved a raise.
January 19th, 2021 at 12:22 PM ^
Wow... if that’s true... wow. My biggest fear is “losing” college football. Seems we are headed down that road. ?
January 19th, 2021 at 12:22 PM ^
Thought this had something to do with Mike McDonald when I read the headline. I was thoroughly confused.

Washington DC McDonald's dropping Tennessee bags of cash heading to Texas
January 19th, 2021 at 12:24 PM ^
McDonald’s bags? Lucky it wasn’t Burger King... could have been a Whopper of a situation.
January 19th, 2021 at 12:39 PM ^
Would have wanted a King’s ransom I bet.
January 19th, 2021 at 12:40 PM ^
Good! Players should get paid and the useless NCAA doesn’t do anything to prevent this shit so who cares? If we choose not to do it or do it to the same extent because it’s against rules that nobody enforces then I suppose that’s our choice as a program and university. It’s illegal to jaywalk but police don’t enforce it so if you choose not to cross the street wherever you want then that’s up to you.
January 19th, 2021 at 12:50 PM ^
“I’m shocked!” said nobody.
January 19th, 2021 at 4:02 PM ^
Well I am surprised it was McDonald's. I figured them to be a Wendy's program.
January 19th, 2021 at 1:03 PM ^
Why hand the bags to the recruits? Just have the bag in a vehicle and when someone picks the recruit up and the recruit sees the bag, just say "finder's keeper!" Problem solved.
January 19th, 2021 at 2:38 PM ^
At OSU & Alabama they let you keep the vehicle too.
January 19th, 2021 at 1:09 PM ^
Tale as old as time. School's recruiting takes a significant uptick for no discernable reasons, wait 3-5 years, 'omg. turns out that school was paying players. can u believe it'.
Eventually Georgia will get busted too
January 19th, 2021 at 4:03 PM ^
I could see GA coming sooner than later
January 19th, 2021 at 6:51 PM ^
Ya, but Kirby smart
January 19th, 2021 at 1:12 PM ^
NCAA is gonna come down hard on Tennessee Women's Swimming & Diving for this.
January 19th, 2021 at 1:13 PM ^
Should have ate at Arby's,
January 19th, 2021 at 1:21 PM ^
*eaten
January 19th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
I just read this and what a bunch of fucking idiots man. Handing out bags of $100 egg McMuffins. Wow. The real story is that had Pruitt managed to have a winning record then I guarantee you that this story would have never got out nor would he have been fired
January 19th, 2021 at 2:03 PM ^
This is the problem with the transfer portal. All of these guys get a second cut at the cash. If you're probably not at the guaranteed pro level, you're a dumbass to stay at your school, especially for grad transfers.
January 19th, 2021 at 2:51 PM ^
Wait. Are you Mineral King, aka Shea Patterson?
January 19th, 2021 at 2:08 PM ^
Did the bags just contain cash or were they cool enough to include a sandwich and fries?
January 19th, 2021 at 4:03 PM ^
Or at least those Monopoly cards.
January 19th, 2021 at 2:19 PM ^
Did they at least give them some nuggets with it?
January 19th, 2021 at 2:33 PM ^
Tennessee will be forced to fill in the open squares in its end zone checkerboards.
January 19th, 2021 at 4:01 PM ^
Do they have any CBs or DTs they can send over?
Or LBs...
January 19th, 2021 at 6:17 PM ^
Pruitt came from the Saban coaching tree. Is this news a surprise to anyone?
January 19th, 2021 at 9:27 PM ^
When I worked in Moscow in the 1990s, I had to pay my employees in cash. My bank was right next to a McDonald's, so every month I made a trip to the bank and exited with a McDonald's bag full of cash to make payroll. The bank insisted, since a big bag labeled "ING Bank" basically said "rob me."
January 20th, 2021 at 6:07 AM ^
Curious, how much cash is in one of these Mickey D's bags? For example, does a 4-star recruit get four figures, while a 5-star gets five?
