OT: So... that was fun. Now what will you do?

Submitted by Blau on January 10th, 2024 at 3:58 PM

Oh boy... less than 48 hours removed from winning the 2024 CFP Championship and I'm still in a daze. Like many other MGoSickos out there, I haven't read or watched this much sports coverage in a long time. Each highlight, commentary, and article celebrating the team (or the colorful schadenfreude) has been pure maize & blue smack into the veins. The picture below says it all...

Now that Michigan has won the whole damn thing, what are your plans considering the following:

- MBB has no signs of life or direction, so no help there.

- Outside of the B1G network, I don't think we get a lot of the Michigan hockey games televised and even they have reverted back to normalcy.

- Many of us will turn to the Detroit Lions hosting their first playoff game since the inception of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and Friends debuting on NBC. They're on the right track but something tells me they don't have the horses to make it very far.

Excluding the NFL for a few Saturdays and Sundays this month, you'll now have your weekends back.

So... Now what are you going to do? Projects? Travel? Sort out that box of DVDs in the basement you should really just throw away but can't because you think to yourself, "What if I want to watch the bonus commentary footage of The Royal Tenenbaums"?

Cheers to the best upcoming OT season (possibly ever?) on MGoBlog!

Watched the game again last night and probably again this weekend …  then maybe the hairless nut victories and the glorious Rose Bowl win !!!

Bracing myself for whatever drama or controversy engulfs the basketball program next (like, oh I don't know, Phil Martelli randomly re-assuming the head coaching duties on a one-off basis with no sensible explanation given)?

NOTE: Edited to insert 'sensible'.

I'll try to read a bit more.

From a sports perspective - I'll just enjoy this until the season opener next - which, I believe, is Fresno State on August 31st.

I'll likely catch up on quite a bit of reading, not to mention various little projects since we have been revamping the house.

Also, I shall say "hello" to a lot of non-sports people in my life that can't understand why I am this invested in a football team, even when they just did what they have done.

I'm going to let the win sink in over time.  Enjoy sports talk radio for a long time as Michigan is THE best team in the country and it doesn't get old hearing it.  And I'll listen to SEC fans bitch about how they didn't have anyone that could beat Michigan this year.

Trying to figure out a replacement for the hours of weekly MGoPodcast content on my training runs. I need more audiobooks to place on hold.

Between now and Aug 30, I'm going to re-watch every game from 2021-2023 in order (even the losses) and relive the greatest run in UM football history. Go Blue!

Flying to Florida on Saturday, weather permitting. Not looking good.... possible bomb cyclone hitting the area. Oh well, wait and see what happens.

Got to run the snowblower yesterday and today... yippee 🤪

Well MLB does have "signs of life." Pitchers and catchers should report for spring training around the middle of February, with games beginning later in the month --- then openiing day won't be far off. The beginning of a new season when "hope springs eternal."

As an Atlanta Braves fan (Yes, I still have a warm spot for the Tigers, whom I followed religiously in the Al Kaline era) I see that a strengthened bullpen, another LH starter (Chris Sale from the Red Sox) and an everday left-fielder (Jarred Kelenic from the Mariners) will improve an already loaded lineup. Assuming season-long health, there shouldn't be another playoff swoon to the Phillies this year --- Go Braves!

Lions and Red Wings for now.

Given it’s the start of winter … sit around and play video games? Stare at the snow? Wait for the UFL to start?

don’t rightly know and don’t rightly care because we’re national champions boys and girls

We didn’t get back home in AZ until 930 last night. Weather delays, airport crowding, too many private jets taking off…yesterday sucked but was totally worth it.

All the Michigan fans were great, I have never hugged and high fived so many random people in my life. Our hotel bar was packed with Michigan fans both nights and we were up way later than normal each of them.

Having said that, I recorded the pregame show and the game. Sometime in the next few days, I am going to recreate the day from my couch.

What an incredible experience.

GO BLUE!!!

My plan was to rewatch the OSU, Rose Bowl and NC game on repeat.

However, I just found out a couple hours ago that I DVR'd the wrong channel for the Rose Bowl game.  Ended up recording ESPN 2 with Mcafee's loud ass mouth as the commentary.  I'm pissed!

Hopefully, I can catch a replay of the real game (not the 60 minute version) and record that.
