I have lived in Scottsdale/Paradise Valley for the last 16
years. I can assure you there are several Lamborghinis, Bentleys and Rolls Royces here. I live right next to Chapparal High School where Lewan and Roh graduated from. It is absolutely amazing how many Mercedes and BMWs you see in the student parking lot.

That's RR in a nutshell—so many unforced errors, big and small.

Nobody forced him to impose the 3-3-5 on Shafer halfway through 2008.

Nobody forced him to then scapegoat Shafer and hire Greg Robinson

Nobody forced him to run his offense with two QBs who were completely unsuited to it.

Nobody forced him to play that stupid song at the football bust.

Nobody is forcing him to give a valuable scholarship spot to his own son.

I'm not sure that's an unforced error.  If his son doesn't get a scholarship spot and RR does move on for some reason, what happens to his son's tuition exemption and football status?

If his son has earned the scholarship by his play in highschool, and he is a 3 star, then it would do the kid a disservice to not give it to him just because his dad is the coach.

I think it's more of an unforced error for RR to assume he's going to be there for 4 more years.

But what about his son's status with the team under a new coach?  That's just a bad situation that players elligible for a scholarship and their parents shouldn't put themselves in?

That kind of thinking makes perfect sense when you are playing NCAA 14 and your decisions don't impact real lives.  I would never put my kid through that if he was getting full ride scholarship offers from other teams.  Now, if he wasn't good enough to get those offers I wouldn't give him one just because he's my son either.

Was there a specific program that he was speculated to be going to? I guess that surprises me, given his second straight unremarkable coaching stop, along with the fact that expectations at UA seem more in line with what he's able to accomplish.

while stationed at DM.  I didn't really think it was anything special.  I also lived in New Mexico which also wasn't anything special.   I guess I'm not a desert person.

Your reaction is probably a lot like recruits who visit from greener places.  It's like visiting the moon ... it's totally different.  A kid from Florida, or east Texas, or southern California is going to have a hard time seeing Tucson as his dream spot to play ball.

I moved to Scottsdale from Chicago 40 years ago (only stayed two years) and back then, there was nothing there but feed stores and cactus. Everyone had a horse, but it was like having a dog - it lived in your backyard. Kids rode their horses to school, and kept them tied up on a wooden post, like an equine bike rack. Coming from the city, it was like moving to the moon.

My ex-in laws moved to 96 th and Shea about that same time. That was way North Scottsdale back then. They were out in the middle of no where on two acres of horse property. No one would even come visit them since there were no highways to get there back then. You had to drive on Pima rd. Now they are basically Central Scottsdale since it has expanded so far north.

I was coached by my father in baseball.  His advice was, "If you want me to put you on the field, you can't be just as good as they guy you are competing to start.  Because of who you are, you need to be clearly better."  It took a little while to sink in, but I've lived that advice and it has served me very well on and off the field.

He looks good. Congrats to him, and I hope they do well.

It does seem a little stupid not to use the PWO route, which would allow for another scholarship player.

He looks OK on tape.  A bit small.  Seems like a MAC level QB at best, but good for him and Rich Rod.  Best of Luck.

Rich Rod has not adapted whatsoever to the game in 2017. The same things that RR was doing at WVU he is doing at Arizona without much change at all. Rich Rod still hasn't learned that the 3-3-5 is a joke. I remember watching some of RR's better WVU teams and thinking RR would end up being a great coach. I wish RR and his son well.
