You do realize that in the case of US Soccer, the women make more than the men. In 2019 it was ~$272K v ~$211K.
The tl;dr is the women get a $100K/year salary. Men do not. Men get a MUCH bigger bonus than the women. But on aggregate, the USWNT makes more than the USMNT

You do realize that the women actually win games, right? I mean, they actually win CHAMPIONSHIPS! They earn the money they get, whereas the men annually suck that money away for no return whatsoever on it. Throwing money on the national men's soccer team is the same as throwing it at NASA's SLS program - a huge black hole of waste. Give the money and support the men get, to the women. Shut down the mens program for a few years. Maybe they'll start to give a shit about it if they don't have the gravy train?

Come on, this is a ridiculous argument. Men's soccer is the most popular sport in the world by far and brutally competitive. We're trying to make up a 100-year gap in development of the sport vs. European countries. The sport has in fact raised its profile dramatically in this country over the last 30 years. However, the competition is so intense that the team can't just progress in a perfect linear direction. It will experience setbacks.
Women's soccer was actually pioneered here in the United States and is still slow to get off the ground in the rest of the world, which is why we destroy everyone else.
I don't think we should stiff the women or anything but their sport, objectively speaking, is less popular and that means lower revenue. Ironically, the best way for the sport to grow - other countries getting better at it - requires our team to perform worse. If we're just beating up on the rest of the world, it's not that compelling viewing.

The Onion hardly pulls names out of a hat. First and foremost, the story has to be both funny and relevant. That makes Green an obvious target, not some NBA rando. They do their best work with ass clowns.
Draymond is an ass and will always be, period.
In this case, the women should get paid more than the men because they are winning.
Winning means more $$$. This is so simple.
Ok, ok market share blah blah blah. But pay the winners.
Men's team is shockingly bad. Wish they were good but they are not. Over and over.
And with all that being said, and as bad as they are, I would still rather watch the men’s team over the women’s.

people don’t watch womens sports. so they don’t get big tv contracts. And in return the athletes don’t get big paydays. Do you think it’s coincidental that nfl and nba salaries coincided with the massive spike in tv contracts?
it’s not that confusing. The WNBA operates at a loss of 10 million a year, which is remarkable considering they only have a revenue of 60 million.

Well duh...The USA women national team was in the world cup finals. The men's team didn't make the tournament. Why are people shocked that Americans would rather watch Americans play than two European countries, regardless of gender?

Went to a Bulls Warriors game a couple years ago in Chicago. My wife’s friend whose dad played for the Bulls back in the 60s/70s invited us. She walked us around the United Center to meet a few people. As we’re walking by the locker room, I see Draymond coming towards us. I gave him a little Go Blue as he walked passed. He smiled, gavee a little nudge and said Go Green back.
