OT: Noose found at UM Hospital...Not actually a noose.

Wanted to post this since it was a topic of discussion several weeks ago. Looks like the most logical answer was the right answer.

Worth posting because there's often a lot of hand-wringing and "oh, the racism everywhere" when one of these stories comes out and almost no interest from the same people in what actually happened when the investigation is complete.

Good news all around.

What’s the point of this and why is this racist post allowed on MGo? Brian?

OP, look at your savior, and be a scumbag like him.

I remember a somewhat similar incident a few years ago. I don't remember where or some of the other specifics but remember the basic facts. There was a conference on a campus and one of the participants observed a noose in a tree. That participant and most of the other participants were, of course, extremely traumatized. One participant came forward and admitted that his shoe lace broke and on a whim he threw it up in the tree. He did not realize that it would be mistaken for a noose. Investigation proved that the noose was indeed a broken shoelace and was not tied in a noose or similar knot. Unfortunately, most of the participants were so traumatized that the conference had to be cancelled.

Ah, the Michigan difference.  There aren't two sides being debated here, there are at least a dozen.  Almost all the posts are logical and reasoned, and even when there are sly digs at those holding other views, the disputes are civil, and the responses are well-considered.  I agree more with some posters than others, but I have actually appreciated the entire thread.  Bravo, mgobloggers.
