OT: Netflix - What are you watching?

Submitted by Honey Badger on March 1st, 2019 at 8:54 PM

I just finished The Innocent Man and am ready to binge watch another show. I have enjoyed the Bundy series, Atypical, and Making a Murderer. Abducted in Plain Sight is seriously messed up. What series/ documentaries should I start?

Currently watching Better Call Saul, and kinda watching Bosch too but not as into that.  Better Call Saul is good but I assume you already know that.

If you are looking for a new show to binge, I highly recommend Dark.  Probably one of the best shows I have ever seen.  It's a German show, so you have to deal with either subtitles or really bad dubbing, but still worth it IMO.

Our very own Jim Harbaugh is a big fan of both Bosch and Better Call Saul (heads him say it on the DP Show last fall).

Hot take but I think Better Call Saul is best drama series on right now now that The Americans is done .  I like Bosch too, just finished season 4. it’s a show that knows what it wants to be and never tries too hard .

Umbrella Academy. It's a story about superheros but isn't extremely predictable like all the Marvel bullshit. Gore and language also help it stand out in comparison.

And yes, I said Marvel movies are bullshit. They're all the same movie. Don't @ me.

I'm watching Lemony Snicket with my 11 year old daughter.  She loves it.  It is a bit different but good.  NPH (Doogie) is the star and is just fantastic.  He should get an Academy award or something for his performance.

Just finished The Ranch.  Pretty funny seasons 1-5.  Season 6 blows.

Still to date, Peaky Blinders is the best I've watched on Netflix.

If you have access to Hulu, check out Letterkenny.

A bit tough to understand with the Canadian accents at first, but possibly the funniest show I've ever watched

Daredevil season 3 is amazing.  Best thing the MCU has put forth, in my opinion. And I love MCU.

Vincent Donofrio is fucking terrifying, one of my favorite acting jobs of all time.

EDITED:  Double post of sorts.  The Alcala movie is not Netflix, found it on Dish "On Demand" and I forget the channel, it might be one of the current free preview channels.

This is a cool feature of a DISH subscription, where you can access and record pay content during the preview (as long as you watch before it expires).

Mindhunter - keeps with your apparent theme, and S2 is coming soon.

Agree with the poster here that recommended Ozark - seriously compelling show, and Jason Bateman is a great actor. Only 2 seasons in and I've watched 3 times.

I love Sex Education. Don’t watch when you have kids that could come in the room; lots of sex. But it is so smart, at times really funny and at times really serious. Great characters and real issues.

Thanks to each of you for these great suggestions.  In my opinion, Fortitude is the best piece of episodic entertainment I've seen in the last few years.

Bordertown.  Savant meets Sherlock meets the Mentalist crime drama in a Finland town near the Russian border.  First three episode well thought out and constructed.  Different than most American crime shows.
