OT: Matthew Tkachuk scores a "goal of the year" candidate in overtime against Nashville

VERY off topic for what's normal content for the board here, but this goal is seriously insane. Looks like Tkachuk went as Datsyuk for Halloween this year.

Yep, that was pretty sweet! It took the slow motion replay to see it! Reaction time of professional athletes is some amazing stuff!

Seriously I could never replicate that in a million years and I'm not exactly a bender when it comes to playing hockey. Like, how do you even do that?

The hand/eye coordination that took is super human!

Pretty damn good. But the best goal I’ve ever seen as far as hand eye coordination was by , I believe Brett hull, in the playoffs for the redwings when he redirected a slap shot from the blue line with the shaft of this stick.

I love Hockey almost as much as I love football but I’m bummed that it seems the NHL is trying to be sly and eradicate fighting (unofficially). I have the hockey package and have watched dozens of games this year and every time a fight starts to break out the refs swarm

Ya, I loved it when Probert & Kocur were our enforcers. Nothing like a good fight to make up for the lack of scoring in a hockey game. Soccer should try it.

Sonny Milano of the Columbus Blue Jackets would like a word with you.

That dude is filthy

Tkachuk's is more impressive because it was off a rebound.
Also, Columbus.

That's pretty sick, but it doesn't include a rebound suddenly coming at you from nowhere! I'll take Tkatchuk's goal over this one - but not by much...

Milano's move at the blue line was best part of that play to me. Great goal, but the kids are practicing that shot all the time now. And as others have said, Tchuck's goal was a reaction move due to getting handcuffed with the rebound.

I beg to differ. Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than an hour ago.

Nice awareness of the clock and getting the stick to the puck heading the right way, it going in after that was more remarkable than skillful so by seasons end it'll only garner "honorable mention".
He didn't have time to think about it much, which definitely helps Matthew.
And Datsyuk was always two moves ahead.

Add to the fact it was an OT winner with 1 second on the clock off a rebound and i think that trumps Milano's goal
November 1st, 2019 at 10:02 AM ^
Might be the best goal of the year so far.

impressive, most impressive

That goal was so dirty, he probably had to be a good Canadian and apologize for it afterward.

Funny name.

Talk about the pharaoh of filth!

The announcer deserves an award for seeing and calling that on the fly. It took me til the 3rd replay to figure out what happened.

Today I learned that Keith Tkachuk has not one but two kids in the NHL. Man, do I feel old.
November 1st, 2019 at 10:41 AM ^
That was a magical goal!

Speaking of insane hockey goals in the NHL... We got a Mike Legg impersonator

This shot by Ovechkin ranks right up there:

Absolute filth!
We have seen some gems this season.
