OT - Lions currently picking 3rd

Submitted by Yessir on December 22nd, 2019 at 7:36 PM

Lions currently picking 3rd.

We need Skins to beat cowboys next week and lose to pack to move to 2nd pick.

Not sure if true but have read talent kinda sorta drops off after top 2.

I cant believe I’m still a Lions fan but I swear I will see a title before I die...I hope.

Obviously there is some talent drop off after Young and Burrows are gone but guys like DE/DT Derrick Brown out of Auburn would still be at #3 and he is a monster. I wouldn't even be upset if Lions pick 3 and take him because Young is off the board

Oh and good luck with the skins beating the Cowboys. The NFL is going to be trying their hardest to rig an Eagles loss and Cowboys win over the Skins. NFL will want the gigantic Cowboys fanbase viewing the playoffs

Cowboys are like the team version of Aaron Rodgers. The league stops at no lengths to ensure they get in the playoffs

Even though they are going to make the playoffs this year, you realize they have missed out the last 2 years right?

Also the Cowboys have made the playoffs in 3 of the last 8 seasons.  They are in the process of making it 3 of the last 9.  Conspiracy theories are much more interesting when you can back them up somewhat.

While I agree that the NFL wants the Cowboys in the playoffs for increased viewership, if they are trying to rig the games they are doing a horrific job.

Because they had no pass rush.  Give any QB five seconds to throw every play and he's guaranteed to have a good game, even if that QB is Mitch Trubisky.

Can everyone in this thread take a chill pill and realize that it's just a football game?  Spend time with your family.  Read a book.  Learn a skill or a new language.  Anything but whine about sports on a blog.  It is a waste of time and energy.  None of what happens on a football field affects you personally.  NONE.

And yes that includes the big house and the shoe.

NotADuck, you do realize you're on a sports blog whining about other people whining on a sports blog, right?

I can't remember a city having such a bad pro teams in all four sports since the Barons left Cleveland. Tigers #1 pick , Wings #1 pick seems like destiny, Lions #3 pick, and the Pistons can't keep anyone healthy seem like a lottery pick team.

Is there a stat for one city having highest combined four team draft picks out there?

If they are stuck at 3 I hope they get Brown from Auburn.  Middle of their D line made no impact.  At least the ends were injured and flowers got better as the year went on.

I'd love for them to trade back and take Epensa or Okudah.

I still have a feeling the Lions will find a way to beat the Packers next week and slide themselves into a lower draft pick. It would be the most Lions move possible so I expect it to happen.

Young is probably looking at Washington or Detroit as destinations and thinking "I'm taking a pay cut to go to either of those shit holes?"  Maybe Lions trade the pick to NE as part of Matty P coming back after he gets fired next season.  Odds are off the board that whatever they do, Lions will totally "screw" it up!

I know the boards won't like it, but I'm saying draft Tua. If they pass on him it will be equal to the Packers drafting Tony Mandarich instead of Barry Sanders or Portland drafting some jarhead before Jordan. Tua is a generational talent, put a 23-1 starter on the bench.

If the Lions don’t draft Chase Young, he’ll be a pro bowler for the team that does. If the Lions do draft him, he’ll be a colossal bust.

For most part the Lions have hit it real big with a top 5 pick. 4 of the last 5 times they have picked they have chosen a guy most consider their 4 best payers over last 30 years with:

Barry, Stafford,,Calvin and Suh though Harrington is also in that group of top 5 picks

Drafting a QB would be so incredibly stupid.

OL, DL, CB, S.... need help everywhere but the offensive skill positions.

Would it be stupid to draft what most experts are a calling a 'generational QB' in Tua, if the FO knows something more about Staffords future with the Lions?

If there are plans to trade Stafford - and you can get MULTIPLE future 1st round picks in return - isn't it a no brainer?

Drafting one of those skill positions you are mentioning at #3 isn't going to make a big dent in terms of future success for the Lions.

Drafting Tua, sitting him behind Stafford for a season - and then trading Stafford for picks seems like a better idea.

What do I know though... :)

Call me crazy, but if I'm Cincinnati, I take Young rather than Burrow.

Also, at three, and assuming both of the above are gone, an extra pick is probably worth more than whoever you can get at 3.

Chase young was shut down by Michigan and Penn State. The two toughest opponents he faced. I will be interested to see how he does in the playoffs.

One could argue that Florida Atlantic might have been a tougher opponent based on final score.

Also, Rutger was on par with Michigan's performance against OSU.... Just sayin.

Michigan doesn't really come across as 'tough' any more, sadly.

I would say based on talent ,yes. Based on performance,no. Also I looked at his Penn State game, he had a good game.{my bad} Michigan and Wisconsin in the Championship he did not do well.
