OT: Lane Kiffin in Talks to be FAU's Head Coach

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

ESPN is reporting that Lane Kiffin is in talks to be the new head coach at FAU, which I believe stands for Florida Atlantic University. Story is here.

Man, he keeps lowering his standards. Couldn't find an HC job with a Power 5 school, couldn't find a job with a good Group of 5 school, so now he's down to this. If FAU doesn't work out, he's going to contact Cheboygan High School.

He already makes something like 1.2 million at Bama. Why would he go down that rabbit hole for basically the same or only slightly more money. Tho I cannot say who, surely a better school would give him a shot. Something along the lines of South Florida or similar.

FAU head coach is better than OC ar LSU. Obviously he is out at Alabama but this seems like a bad career move. FAU is not a launching pad.

Is someone else knocking on his door? I think that if they were he'd take it. He's failed spectacularly In Oakland and USC, left Tennessee in a very embarrassing way for the school. He's in the most high profile offensive coordinator job he could be in and his team is going to the playoffs again. I think FAU is as good as it gets for Lane Kiffin right now.

Lame Kiffen has been living off being Monty's son his whole career. He's a jerk and not a leader at all. Only way he's a HC again is at a smaller program with little alumni involvement. P

Wow. Even for Kiffin I'd think he can do better that. I know he's got some personality issues, but I'm surprised someone higher up in the food chain isn't willing to take a chance on him.

He's proven to be a pretty good offensive mind.

Anyone can win games with a dominant O-line and stable of running backs. Hasn't shown he can actually do anything in terms of running a program. Also I thought the offensive play calling was the main reason they lost to OSU 2 years ago.

Im clearly behind the 8 ball here but pretty sure I remember reading through a thread that had him going to Houston? Was I just too drunk or did that fall through.

Its pretty sad when the school tells the team Kiffen is on his way, and the team says 'no thanks'...  LMAO!!!  I just can't feel bad for Kiffen.  But yeah, FAU seems like a really low bar.  When did that program become a leverage point?  I'm still hoping Cristobal goes there, so it frees up Leatherwood to flip.  Dream high, right?

unless he really wants to be head coach. There were some rumors that Orgeron wanted Kiffin to be OC at LSU. If Alabama is forcing him out, you'd think he'd at least want to be part of a relatively prestigious program.

On the other hand, it's nice to see karma work its magic (I don't like Tennessee but I can't stand people like him who lie to players' faces and just quit on a team like that. That's why I still can't stand Saban for leaving Miami and Petrino leaving Atlanta in the middle of the season, even though they're succesful coaches).
