OT: Illinois Only a 2.5-Point Favorite Over Rutgers

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

Thought this was interesting. Even after getting jailsexed by OSU and Michigan in successive weeks, Rutgers is only a 2.5-point dog at home against Illinois this weekend. You can see all the lines of this week's games here. I have three observations on that:

1. Whoever wins this game better enjoy it, because it's going to be the last win they see all year.

2. If Illinois is only 2.5 points better than Rutgers, the Illini better enjoy this week, because the week after that won't be much fun.

3. Chris Ash probably should have invited those 200 recruits to this game instead.

Also, Wiscy has opened as a 10.5-point dog at home against OSU.

Remember when we failed in four attempts at the one-yard line against Illinois back in 2009/2010? Or our 67-65 victory a few years later with one of the worst defenses in the country? How times have changed.

I went to the 67-65 game.  It was nice to win but when your defense looks like...that, is there really any reason to be happy?

Left Ann Arbor that day and went to the Cider Mill in Ypsilanti, listening to the radio and the post-game shows made it sound like this was a loss.  Even Chris Spielman was interviewed on the radio a couple weeks later and said, "I have no idea how Michigan's defense got this bad.  They can't stop anything."

Ugh...why did you have to remind me of that game?  I need one of those Men in Black memory erasers.

I have to imagine Illinois wins, but I'm not betting on that game. There is too much suck for any level of confidence.

Honestly, I am pulling for Rutgers from here on out...I took so much glee with the ass kicking that now I feel bad...go beat Illinois kids...

My sister just graduated from IU last year and worked in the football department for 3 of 4 years at IU... When Michigan visted Bloomington last year anyone that Michigan was recruiting did not get an invite except Brandon Peters because the coaches knew it was just another chance for Harbaugh and crew to impress!

When Michigan came to Bloomington last year IU booked the recruits on officials to stay at the same hotel as the Michigan FB team on the same weekend and Harbaugh ended up being on the same elevator as IU of recruits Wilson was lived that a mistake like that happened to book OV with the opposing teams hotel haha

I've always loved the insight my sister could tell me about how othe B1G schools felt about Michigan outside of media and how they felt about Harbaughs recruiting/coaching tactics, then being at the IU football party for lil 500 this year no one likes us and my interpretation was you just hate us because you ain't us "aren't us for some of the MGo Grammar critics"
